24" to 27" is it worth it?

I recently got a LG E2442 24" monitor which I got for £150 and its been great.

But...

I'm considering replacing it with a 27" 1080p monitor since the basic models are pretty inexpensive, I was wondering is this worth doing?

I can't find any pictures online of a 24" next to a 27", I used the display wars site and it seems to be a fair bit bigger but I still can't get a good impression.

Has anyone made this jump and did you see a huge change?

The other option is to get a triple monitor setup but tbh I think its a tad excessive.

Its bigger but not any better. Save money and just move a bit closer to the screen..

Personal I think 24" is the sweet spot for 1080p but with 27" screen it's look more pixelated. If you going to buy 27" screen I would recommend 1440P.

Stick with a 24" and instead of getting a 27" get another 24" and run dual screens if you're pc can manage it.

Yes it is. Ok I went from 23" to 27" and I think its well worth it. See plenty of comments about 'more pixelated' which I have read is nonsense. The thinking that you must go 1440p if you buy a 27" monitor is fine if you have £300-£400 to spend. My BenQ GW2750HM is excellent and only cost me £180 on TWO, currently £209.99 though. Trust me it is not pixelated or stretched and looks amazing playing FC3.

If your going to upgrade to a 27" then make sure it a 1440p one...

A 27" with only 1080p is a load of wasted space...

Even a 24" 1200p monitor would be better then a 27" 1080p monitor.

I can take some pictures of my 24" 16:10 1200p monitor next to my 27" 16:9 1440p monitor later this evening if you want ??

(I don't have a 24" 16:9 1080p monitor to take any pictures of..)

I would probably go 27" 1440p or 24" 120Hz depending on what the monitor is for.

Posts: 2 i have a dell u2713hm for gaming looks no diferant at 2560x1440 or 1080p could have saved some cash and gone 1080 and it defanatly not blocky at 1080

I moved from from 24" to 27" 2560x1440 and am very happy I did.

Agreed. Went from 24" 1080 TN to 27" 1440 IPS and couldn't be happier. Colours are fanstatic and vibrant and not notice any lag or ghosting in games.

I did exactly the same with the same monitor. I was very happy with it, and for gaming its amazing. I laughed when I heard people mention pixellation !!!

I went from a 22" to a 27" and at first it was BIG , now it's just normal !!! . I think would get a 120Hz next time for gaming.

Went from a 22" 1080p to a 27" 120hz 1080p and I am more than happy with it.
I sit about 2ft away from the screen and do not notice any pixelation, screen is responsive and the 120hz makes it very pleasurable when gaming on fps and driving games.

I was very worried about getting a 1080p 27" screen and made the jump to the tune of £300 but am happy I did.

Remember if you get a 1440p monitor it will strain your whole system that bit more aswell so if you do not have a "high end" system already, it could effect your experience negatively as we'll.

I went from a 22" to one of those Korean 27" IPS panels it was overwhelming at first but soon got used to it. The colours are vibrant with the glossy screen borderlands 2 looks ace. I have no input lag I can notice in BL2 or online in BF3. I'm pushing my panel with GTX580 though and would recommend a GPU with more VRAM than 1.5g for some games at 2560x1440. The panel is good for displaying multiple documents, web pages etc but had to increase the dpi for my eyes though.
