Orange San Diego; best phone PAYG for £100?

The San Diego is now down to £100.is this the best smartphone you can get for the money? I imagine it is better than the g300.
 
They have them in what used to be the Orange store near me for £99 + £10 top up.

My only concern is getting it unlocked; I need to send it to a relative abroad unlocked.
 
After a quick search, it's got a locked bootloader. So there's not going to be much of a modding scene for this.

Shame, as it's be a decent vanilla android device :(
 
if you're happy with stock android full of orange bloat then yeah its a good phone :) but san fran was top phone because you could mod it.. and you can't do the same with it :) - locked bootloader as benjo said.

It's running ICS and you can root. 1GB RAM too.

Disable bloat apps, change launcher. Job done.
 
I am not worried about the mods- I am worried I won't be able to unlock it for other carriers e. g. O2.
 
Is a great spotted for the money, but it's only good for Orange/T- Mobile. You can pay Orange £20 after you've had it for three months, but that's it, no third party unlocker can do it.
 
That has blown that.

Giff gaff have a link on their website that indicates it can be done but I would hate to buy the phone and then get screwed over because their link is nonsense.
