Literally, it smells of ass and its well within sell by date! I washed it and its fine now... is there some chemical that smells of ass that farmers use on apples or something? Or do they wipe the value ones on cows arses to differentiate the value apples from regular?

I wander around the store with an apple wedged between my cheeks then put it back just before going to the checkout with my weekly shop.

Yes they do, in line with the European Standard Directive when it comes to retailing 'own brand' apples. Take it up with the EU. It's common practice. Where have you been?

I reckon the lads have been having a bit of fun with your apples.
