Sure most have watched this at some point, is it just me or does the ending ruin the film ?

I know it's Mel Brooks and as such is a bit "off the wall" but for me this ruins a great film

Have to admit, yes, it is a pretty naff ending to an otherwise very funny film. The rest of the film is so good however I usually just let it play out trying not to think about it too much. Young Frankenstein on the other hand is not just one of the best films made by Mel Brooks, it is in my opinion the best comedy film bar none. I actually physically love that film.

I am going to sort some more Mel Brooks for a few long haul flights I have coming, I am with you in that I ignore then ending, it's just that I watched it tonight and just can't work out what they were thinking

did a web search on stuff re the film and got a lot of stuff about it being racist, errr, the black guy is the hero and the racists all end up looking stupid, you have to wonder about some folks

These are probably the same folk who complain that Till Death Do Us Part is racist, because Alf Garnett says racist things. Some folk are just stupid.

As for Blazing Saddles, yes, it's a bit naff at the end. But that ending formed the basis of the end of Holy Grail, in one sense at least.

I quite like it :D

It's just stupid, laughing at themselves and at the audience. Of course, I have a very silly sense of humour :p
