Are the stock fans ok or should I invest in something better?

I used to have Apaches on my H50, would it be beneficial to do the same with the H80i. Also should it be set to intake or exhaust, I currently have it set to exhaust in a 600T case.

It's cooling a 3770k.

When the H80i first came out everyone was complaining about the stock fans being loud and whiney, but mine are very quiet. Others have been using Corsair's SP120 Instead of the stock fans, but like I said mine are quiet...I guess you should test yours when you install it and see or hear what happens.

I have mine set as Intake push and pull. If you case is cool enough then your H80i as outflow should be ok. You want cold air through the RAD, not hot.

I have 7 fans in my case so installing it as intake was better. All the hot air goes through the 2 fans on the top. My temps are 27c at idle and never go higher then 60c. I'm very happy with how the H80i cools the CPU.

All the rear screw-holes in the radiator are threaded, I cannot fit the damned thing. What kind of joke design is that.

You better send it back. That's what happened to the first batch I got. The fans wouldn't mount to the rad. Corsair did mess up with some of the H80i and H100i's For some reason some wont mount.

If I was you I would send it back ASAP. The threads on the RAD are stripped.

I guess you could use your apaches fans. Give it a try and let me know how it goes. Are they Static High Pressure fans?

poxy screws?

The h80i comes with SP fans that actually cool better than the SP's linked, they're just missing the coloured ring and isolation corner things. (they have a higher RPM)

The Corsair website says the H80i fans have a static pressure rating of 4mm/H2O which is higher than the standard SP120.

On the website it says

H80i:

Fan static pressure: 4mm/H20
Fan airflow: 77 CFM
Fan dBA: 37.68 dBA
Fan speed: 2700 RPM

Corsair SP120 Performance Series:

Fan static pressure: 3.1 mm/H20
Fan airflow: 62.74 CFM
Fan dBA: 35 dBA
Fan speed: 2350 RPM

So does this mean the included fans on the h80i have better better static pressure(a good thing?), better airflow, but are louder? and don't have the rubber on the ends...

On the quiet mode in the corsair link thing?

Yes. you have to fiddle with the Corsairlink program. After updating firmware I have no fan whine that everyone said would happen. It's been prefect for me:D

Edit: MatsyLR have you installed yours yet?

Nah not yet, keeping it for use in a prodigy migrate I plan to do soon ;) (an expensive migrate :(, mini-itx MB's are expensive if you want overclocking ability...going to cost like £200 for the case+mb) use a cheap old artic freezer 7 pro atm.

I'm waiting on my H100i and I'll be swapping the stock fans for the SP120 PE fans. I know there's a slight drop in performance over the stock ones but IMO they look better and with a slightly lower top speed I should be able to drop them quite low at idle.

At the moment I have 2 SP120s strapped to my heatsink and my PWM curve set to 12% at idle and they're spinning at a smidge over 700rpm whilst my CPU temp is at 29°c (ambient 21.6°c)

And before anyone says, I know I don't need a H100i with those temps, I want one mainly for looks.

I bought those to replace the stock fans too, but my stock fans are so quiet I didn't need to use them. I also could have got the H100i, but after reading up on H100i there isn't that much of a performance jump from the H100i to the H80i, maybe 2c difference. I thought it's not worth it. The H80i was a better buy for me and looks the BOMB:D
