Best way to sell unwanted media.

Just don't forget that you're unlikely to get cash from CEX.

They give 2 prices, one for trade in, 1 for cash, there is usually a huge difference but if there are a few things you are after the trade in prices are generally quite good :)

My girlfriend was going to sell a load of her dvd's on one of these sites, but when she entered in all the barcodes she only got like a tenner for 20 dvds. I convinced her that it wasn't worth it and that the material value of owning those dvds was worth more than a tenner. It made more sense to just keep them, even if you might not watch them that much.

That's where they are at the moment. Most of them I have in digital form plus lots more so there is no need for them. Just three heavy boxes of wasted space really.

I am currently renting my house so it's a lot of extra work when I come to move.

When digital downloads came about, I still bought hard copies. I just liked to have the case but now I am complete opposite.

All my stuff on a tiny little drive :D

What happens if the HDD goes **** up one day and you lose all of your music? If you've sold the original discs then you'll have to re-purchase it all again.

for what u get for them, just box them and put in loft.

true but the 51 DVD's that I had in a box in the loft today - just scanned them all in to music magpie's app and they will send a courier to pick them up for free, and I will get £18.16!! :D:D

Must be about £500 original purchase price!:(

Still it's better than sticking them back in the loft for another 5 years collecting dust.

Try cex instead!

I scanned 4 items on musicmagpie, they offered £7.60

Cex offered £24

Seeing this thread has inspired me to give musicmagpie a try. I have shelves full of old DVDs that are currently under a layer of dust, so I might as well get shut.

Score £105 worth! :D

Just sold the lot on avforums for £40 - that'll do me nicely!:D

Quite a few people have luck selling on locally setup Facebook sale sites - we've sold loads and if you really wanted you could probably do a few job lots for someone wanting to do carboots/swapmeets or whatever people do these days
