New Golf Mk7

VW are good at marketing, a bit like apple, basically bring out a facelift and make out that its a whole new model.

****'s

It does, Its massive.
Tbh to me its starting to look like a MPV in the category that the old B Class Merc used to fill.

All though i'm pretty sure its that un flattering angle of the photo that causes that.

Not in the least but interested myself. I'll be looking at and watching the Octavia Mk3 - which I feel is better looking, will offer the same levels of specification (more or less) is a brand that always appears above VW in the reliability charts and will be cheaper spec-for-spec.

Lol :)

Anyway, it's 4.3m long by 1.8m wide - how is that a massive car?

Not to mention totally classless and unassuming, which is a very good thing imo.

Mk5/6/7 have come along quick!

The Mk6 was essentially a big facelift of the Mk5 on the same platform. The Mk5 got criticised for a poorer quality interior than the Mk4, plus it was expensive to assemble. So it got a thorough re-engineering and a Mk6 badge.

I'll be interested to see how blingy the DRLs are. Most VWs at the moment just use halogen bulbs in the foglight aperture, even Kia use million watt LEDs on the Picanto thing.

Since it seems to be a bit of a talking point, the DRL's are sort of 'U' shaped and as far as DRL's go (if thats what floats yer boat) they are a bit, well......meh.

I'm not really sure how you can judge the size of something without much (if anything) to judge relative scale

from what I've read, it doesn't sound like the MK7 was aiming for much difference on the exterior, but instead more focused on the interior / performance.

Was speaking to someone at the weekend who was looking to get the new Audi A4, but after seeing this said he'd rather go for the golf :o!

I can't personally comment as I haven't loooked at it, but surely the A4 would be superior to the Golf?

Numbers say it's about 2 inches longer and a inch wider than the Mk5/6. Interesting bit is the weight - 100+Kg lighter.

So a tiny bit bigger - as you tend to expect from newer models. Hardly a "panzer tank" though, its just a golf
