Hi all,

I have the 2.6ghz rmbp pro and I have installed windows 8 pro on it with bootcamp so I can play bf3

Currently It is only playable at 1366x768 with everything on low? Is this right? I have heard people saying that the 650m should be able to run at 1080p with medium graphics.

I have also clocked it to 1035/1700

I only have the bootcamp drives installed should I update these?

Cheers

EDIT: At these settings I get between 20 and 25fps

Done that so now on 310.90

I'm now getting between 25 and 30fps on the same settings (weirdly the overclock doesnt seem to make a difference?)

Hmm...it shouldn't really struggle with BF3, not like its a brand spanking new game or anything.

Does it have graphics accleration settings within the game or anything? AA/AF?

Ive turned off everything. no AA 1x AF no HBAO everything on low etc. one thing I did notice in afterburner was that the clock was only reporting to be running at 259mhz, though gpu z said it was running at 1035mhz

nope still getting between 20 and 30 average jumped up to 40 for about a second but only once and came straight back down.

According to afterburner the core was only running at 225.

My MBP runs it fine with custom settings at 1680x1050.

Overclocked to 950 core 2600 mem.

Use nVidia inspector and force power states. It saves battery by down clocking so you'll see 225 when it's not doing anything.

You have to create a BAT file. Go into the over clocking settings.

There is a problem with retina MBPs where they aggressively down clock. Reset your SMC and see if the problem persists.

250Mhz isn't right...

83*C is pretty hot for a 250mhz clock...i get that with a 950MHz clock.

hellarda - you have the smc bug! Reset your SMC then try it again and you will magically be back to 900/2500. This is a bug introduced with the latest SMC update.

I had this issue a little while back, since resetting my SMC it has not returned

Edit - beaten to it, sorry logsi, missed your post

Doesn't seem to have helped. I tried resetting the SMC (holding shift cntrl and option + power)

Its weird that GPU-z reports it as the correct clocks but afterburner and inspector dont.

try it a couple of times mate. I know a couple of people that have struggled to get it working.
And as logsi says, run 3dmark11 you should get a score of 2200+

I run BF3 at 1680x1050 high settings but no HBAO or SSAO and get 40+ fps at all times (usually between 50 and 60)

I get around 2800 on 3dmark i think IIRC.

I was surprised how well BF3 ran though. Changing options didn't really effect the performance but resolution did.

AHA!

Fixed :D

I managed to reset the SMC properly :p (I was pressing the wrong button before ha)

Now getting 50fps on bf3 1680x1050 all on high with SSAO and 16x AF :)

Cheers for the replies :)
