Appliance experts, i seek help from thee! Which washing machine?

I bought (well, my mum had £300 in Argos vouchers which expired in 2012) a Bush Washing Machine for £180. I look forward to many years of happy washings... or not.

To add to that, if you do manage to find a machine that's actually built in Germany, it's probably built by Polish workers anyway.

Which is exactly what happened here in Stoke On Trent at the Indesit Factory.
When taking on Temps the Italians would only have Polish workers and if anything really wrong happened I always traced it back to them.

Just ordered a new Beko one to replace our existing Beko which has lasted 9 years without any issues. For sub £300 getting a good value for money machine without paying the higher premium for an LG, Samsung or Miele.

I have a Samsung WF1804WPU (although mine is white :/) and can't fault it. I've no experience of any other machines, except my mothers Hotpoint and a few others from Uni.

Has quite a lot of useful settings and is quite quiet too. I have a Samsung fridge freezer too which I've had them out for when an LED on the display stopped working and their customer service was very good, I've a query with a feature of it that isn't working as it should and again I've been very impressed.

I'm sure that any of those will serve you well. I always buy the best that I can afford. A decent warranty will make an appliance more attractive generally.

... I bought a 12 year old Miele in mint condition to replace it, and it was so clean it almost looked like it'd been owned by a detailer. I paid 120 notes for it, which was probably my bargain purchase of last year. ...

May I ask where you got it from? £120 for a Miele is an absolute bargain! :)

Local chap selling on ebay. The only issue with it is that it isn't exactly modern looking (but then neither is my kitchen). He wanted £135, but accepted an offer of £120. There were others at a similar price, but they all looked battered.

There is a 4 year old miele W524 on ebay for £279, would that be a better option than the 3 i listed? The thing weighs 93kg so getting a courier could be a problem.

I dont know if im allowed to link to it or not but theres only a couple of miele on ebay.

4 year old miele vs brand new LG.... ho hum...

We got a brand new washer/dryer with our flat.

It's a hotpoint, so not great, but for free we though "why not?".

2.5 years in of daily usage and not a problem as yet. We don't use the dryer function though.

No problem linking to it. Let's have a look.

Miele are great, we have the 1400 rpm (now 1600 see below!) stainless steel one which gets a daily beating as we do a lot of sports so feed it with clothes daily once during weekdays and on weekends up to 3 times a day. It's been going now for 2 years, and clothes come out brilliant, definately a mile better than my parent's now aging Zanussi.

It did arrive with a PCB fault (apparently known by Miele that a few of them had this fault) but they offered us a new one to replace, or a new PCB with a free 1600rpm upgrade (we picked the free 1600rpm upgrade). It also has a 10 year guarantee.

The only thing which was missing which did kind of irk me as it was a £1300 washing machine is it didn't have delayed start.

If you do go second hand make sure it has warranty just in case!

Well your German made machine the OP listed is made in Poland. You recommend the Samsung yet have no knowledge of their reliability.

Trust me, buy the LG. ;)

Well you're more up to date than me, I've been out of the washing machine selling business almost 12 years now & you repair them (No offence intended). I was aware that the cheap Bosch washers were not made in Germany, they haven't been since I started in said business way back in 1995.

I didn't know they'd moved production from Spain to Poland (not surpsied that they have TBH). Having said that I'd still buy a Bosch over the other makes on the proviso that Bosch still supply spare parts for 10 years & you can buy said part if you wanted to? Or has that changed or doesn't it make any difference?
