With the majority of the deadlines being tomorrow (15th January) for your UCAS applications, I thought It'd be a good idea to see what people have applied for and where they've got offers from

I've applied for Computer Science today top choices are:

1. Kingston
2. Nottingham
3. Manchester
4. UWE
5. Glamorgan

BA International Relations (& Politics for some of them)

Had offers from

1. Leicester
2. Kent
3. Aberystwyth
4. Reading

Waiting to hear from Exeter. :)

BSc Geology

Offer from Portsmouth, rejection from Southampton and Bristol. I have an interview at Manchester, and still waiting to hear from Aberdeen.

Good luck to all those applying, my only advice for whatever it is worth is that if you don't get into your first choice it's not necessarily the end of the world and remember there is also clearing in case you don't get what you want.

I didn't get the required grades and I still got my first choice.

Remember it's never the end of the world.

And to add to both of these, if you don't get the grades for your first choice then phone the university up straight away and you can see if they'll still take you, no harm in trying! It shows you're keen to go to that particular uni!

And if that doesn't work, then where ever you go will still be great; I speak from experience. I was SO keen to go to Southampton (amazing open day so I looked up EVERYTHING about it and I was SUPER excited) but alas, I missed one of my grades by 1 UMS mark (paid for a remark and phoned the uni up; no change).

Now I didn't actually like the thought of going to Bristol (although I thought the department was the best based on the open day) because I REALLY didn't want to go to a city uni, but after just 1 week of settling in I now love it here and wouldn't have it any other way. :)

I have a question I really need answering, currently studying A-levels.

I have 2 offers from computing subjects @ Northumbria University, they "A minimum of 300 UCAS Tariff points from 2 or more GCE"

Does this include AS Levels also? Or just full GCE certificates. I'm asking this because even if you did two subjects and came out with A* you would only have 280 points!

Have you read the full offer? Mine says that they already took AS into account, so the points have to be in qualifications i haven't got yet. And yes... that's why most people take three subjects. Which really isn't a lot, and i think we specialise too soon, but now is not the time. Partly because i can't be bothered, but mainly because i'm just here to procrastinate on biology revision.

I applied for International Management/Business Administration/Whatever else they call it these days.

Applied to (in order of preference)

Manchester
Leeds
Nottingham
Leicester
Bath

All of the main universities. Will see what happens :) I'm quite old too, so dealing with a bunch of 18 year olds will leave a lot to be desired.

Why would you only take two subjects? That's barely any work to cover in two years!

I haven't taken 2, I ****ed around in my first year and dropped two. Then had to pick up 2 AS which I'm now finishing. I'll have 3, but I won't have 300 points - one of my teachers is atrocious, he's waffled on for half the year and doesn't have a clue what he's talking about but there's no other teacher doing the course, I hate it!

I'm asking if they'll count AS levels because I have a low grade from my first year, and this year I picked up AS Psychology which I'm looking to get an A in (which would really boost up the UCAS score)

BSc Physics

Offer from Aberdeen and Aberystwyth.

Waiting on Salford, Liverpool (University of), and Hull.

Don't think of Salford as a last choice - the city is rubbish, but the university and more importantly the lecturers are great. I'd definitely recommend it (I spent four great years there!). Plus sometimes its good to be the big fish in the small pond rather than the small fish in the big pond!!

Hi

I'm thinking about applying for the access to success starter courses , has anyone done this ?

I'm new to OU and want to get my confidence up in learning again.

I think I meet the criteria for this path so it seems a good way to start with the low costs and all?

Has anyone got any advice

thanks
