Why are films released post October always favoured over films released in the rest of the year?

Are the Acadamy Award votes just incapable of remembering films released over 3 months ago? :p

Not seen a single one of the best picture nominations...oops.

Was going to see Silver Linings Playbook, really wanted to see that actually.

Every year there's a title or two nomination of which I just don't understand. This year is it's majority of titles. Amma whinge a little if you let me.

"Life Of Pi". Yes, special effects were top class. But it's still a primary school class. Animal motion is massively improved but it looks like Avatar, clean, plastic, CGI. Acting was non existent. Plus the story delivery is about as settle and finese as episode of Coronation Street. 11 nominations? Really?

"Les Miserables". No. No. Get TFO. Do not want. No. No more **** musicals. Chicago was bad enough, this is just taking a wee now. No more wooden, starry eyed has been action stars pretending to belch out embarrassing 1980ies vaudeville lyricals into autotune machinery. It will not be tolerated. No more finger snapping men sliding in Shakin Stevens fits across studio floors and for the love of god, no more crying over that cheesy Susan Boyle's "I dreamed a dream". WTF is wrong with you yanks? Stop it. Seriously not cool.

"Zero Dark Thirty" I understand, she had you at Osama. But come on. This flick is dry like a beef jerky lost under car seat on a hot day. And the whole "ultra realistic" para documentary filming technique is about as exciting as watching South Korean military parade. Best movie of the year? Chastain for best actress? Really?

"Snowy White" nominations? "Mirror mirror" nominations? Seriously? That's your top pick? I'm losing my will to watch this vanity parade sometimes.

Lincoln was ok at best, Life of Pi was great, Silver Linings Playbook was very much a surprise for me, really enjoyed it. Flight was really good also, DW always delivers though :)

To me it seems like the only reason Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty are even in the list is because of the link to the USA. Both films are moderate at best.

Woohoo! Another year where I've not seen any of the major nominations. :D

In fact, the only nominated film I've seen this year is Skyfall. I think that's a new low for me.

What is Zero Dark Thirty doing on the list....it was just daft.

And for Best Actress?.....theirs was barley any acting in it what so ever.
