The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

mrk that desk is unnaturally clean!... what do you use to remove the stains??! ;)

This red ring lens game is a dangerous one to start getting involved with. I've just ordered the Canon EF 100mm F2.8 L IS USM Macro. To help fund this I'm whiling to sell my bedroom TV (which has had 12 hours 'on' time since August 2012). I don't feel bad for selling it at all.

I've always been interested in macro photography but had to make do with the 50mm 1.8 and a set of jessops extension tubes for the last 6 years.

It's become serious. I've got an L lens addiction. Where do I go to get help?

Buy a ISgma 35mm 1.4, you'll lose the L addiction soon after :D

As for the desk, it's just how it is! Stains?!?!

Can't find a reasonably priced one for nikon anywhere for that sigma 35mm lens. Considering other options now instead as its something I won't use that often anyway.

I'm off to get the 85mm F/1.2L at the end of Feb from HK. UK prices are £1600 brand new, 2nd hand is about £1100. I can't believe how much different there is.

Will see what prices are in HK.

The Canon 35mm F/1.4L is £1067 brand new and 2nd hand is approx £700-£800. It holds its value quiet well!

Not mine but borrowing this fine piece of machinery for the next week. Do love working with a rangefinder, especially when it's 6x7 ratio on 120 E6 slide film.

I do love that P store... way more than most others ;).

The 35mm focal length doesn't do too much for me... at this moment in time. ;) :D

It's a cheap hobby this, isn't it(!). Yet again, I will have to adjust my camera insurance details which will cost a few quid!

It's great indoors at events on full frame :)

Not so much a personal willy wave as a vent... Just saw a guy at my school trying to shoot a football match with a Leica M9P and 35 Summicron (known about those for a while), go up and joke about it with him... I find out he got a Paul Smith X2 (£2000 for a mediocre compact. It's a yellow leica for crying out loud) for Christmas... I need to find poorer friends. I put aside every penny I can to go to my eventual 5D3 purchase and he just gets gear thrown at him... Gyahhhhhh /rantover

Is that an official grip on the D7000? I don't know why, maybe it's the flashgun, but when I saw it my first thought was that it was one of those old D2 bodies or similar... It just looks a little boxier than I thought it would, I guess?

My third piece of L glass.

I had a quick play with it tonight after work and I can't believe how sharp it is at 100% crop. Incredible, pixel peeping joy!

Seriously impressed with Onestop-Digital and DHL. I ordered Monday evening and it was delivered Today (Wednesday) after being flown via Germany on a non direct flight. It actually didn't land in this country until 4am today, and even then it was up in the Midlands! It arrived in this area at 1PM and I really didn't expect to see it out for delivery today at all. Then the email came that it was! Incredible!

Hmm, that is neat, but any Macro samples?!

Nothing too interesting as not had the time. Damn work!

Well worth selling my non-used bedroom TV to fund this lens. :D

It's dangerously sharp. :D

I plan on going to an insect and butterfly house at the weekend to really stretch it's legs. Also picked up an off camera shoe cable, which is much needed.

Bet you have to clean and polish every time you want to post a photo of your desk. It's far too clean. Either that or you spend some time with a clone tool :D

I know. I don't like him. Neat freak! :D

I am always curious what he has for lighting though. His room always seem so naturally bright but not crazily bright. How many lights are in there?

Well I said a while back I would love a Billingham Bag and so using some Christmas money I picked one up for myself :D

First impressions is the build quality is insanely good and with some careful packing I can get a fair amount of gear in there (7d+lens, two primes and a wide angle with room in the pockets for tablet and filters etc). I also love how easy it is to completely remove the camera insert, it makes a fairly nice shoulder bag and wouldn't look out of place worn with a suit! All in all a very happy bunny with this and I imagine it will last me a fair amount of time too!

Anyway pictures:
