My new laptop. It's a Samsung NP550P5C-S03 with dedicated 2gb Nvidia Geforce graphics.

Whipped out the 1TB hard drive and installed a 128gb Samsung 830 SSD to give it some extra oomph.

Excuse poor phone pic.

Looks good. Temptedto try it round my TV. If I am watching a film I usually turn off the lights but this might be good for some limited ambient light.

I see it is USB powered. Do you reckon I could plug it into a usb phone type charger so it could be powered from the mains?

Tempted myself, be even better if I could plug into my TV so when its turned on it powers on the lights.

Hmmm, that could be interesting. Would want multi lights though, red for gaming and a white/light blue for movies.

Actually just noticed there is one specifically for TVs. Might get one and try it out. Just checked TV too and it does have usb ports for external media so it might work directly off that. If it does it should work with TV on/off.

I'll let you know!

Cheers, it could probably be used on an adapter, I would try but I dont want to disconnect the usb, it was a right mess earlier trying to stick them on straight whilst also getting the cable to support itself without pulling the strips back off or dangling under each monitor. First world problems as well as line the monitor back up again after ARGH!
I am tempted with putting one on the tv as well (the tv specific one that you've obviously found from the above post) but as you can probably tell from the image it will be a pain to do considering the desk width and location of the tv as well as the USBs being on the side or bottom so I would have to argue with the wall mount for space.

There are some that I've seen somewhere that are RGB with multiple combinations controllable via remote. But I think they were mains powered and rather expensive. These ones are connected via the dells usb hub on each monitor and come on when I turn the monitor on howevever there are individual switches on them, so I'd imagine most are similar.

Maybe they just wanted to get it out quick? I don't think you'd be too happy if your order was delayed for the sake of 20p worth of sweets.
