My PSU has died on OC Pre-built spec - Recommend replacement PSU please!

Ok used screw driver, same effect, boots 2 seconds, loses power, boots up again(on its own) maintains power, HDs can be heard running but no power to mouse or monitor.

This was a 650W ZS Ocz by the way :-(

my other PC is AMD based. This one with the issue is Intel based. So that might be more work than its worth. According to the manual i am positive i did the CMOS

Does the AMD use DDR 3 and perhaps try the OCZ PSU in that system.

Highlighted the CLR CMOS below in the PIC:

I dont believe it does, it has DDR2 ram i think at the moment. tbh that machine is also having its own issue with a ticking noise, the OS HD may be dying, its very old , im amazed its lasted this long.

Seasonic X-Series 650w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply [SS-650KM3] £114

Akasa Venom 750w Modular '80 Plus' Power Supply [AK-PA075AM01] £99

The XFX linked above or the Seasonic.

Ah its a old system fair enough :)

XFX one is a good simple replacement but tempted for Seasonic, may have future proof value and it has a good review against it on OC.

Have you tried "jump starting" / "hot wiring" the PSU?
Whilst it can't confirm that the PSU still works fully, it can confirm it being faulty.

xfx psu's are made by Seasonic :) The X-Series Seasonic is a great psu though. If you are looking to future proof then this is only £2 more than the Seasonic and is also fully modular and this would run 2 graphics cards if you ever wanted to.

i had the same problem on my machine not so long ago. Basically it got stuck in a boot loop and would power on for 2 secs then shut down and repeat....

the fix i had was:

Unplug the psu and remove the pwr connector on the MB, then hold down the pwr button on the case for 10 secs to make sure there was no pwr left in the system at all. remove the CMOS battery for 20 mins
plug everything back in the and try a boot.

I am considering the Gold over the Silver as theres only a £16 difference

Seasonic X-Series 850w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply [SS-850KM-F3] as the price difference is only slight with the

Silverstone Strider Plus 850W Modular '80 Plus Silver' Power Supply (SST-ST85F-P) [SST-ST85F-P]

Noj thanks for letting me know, I think im at the point i just want the thing to work again and i can take advantage of this to upgrade the PSU for future proofing (2 g-cards would be nice in the future)

If anyone has further suggestions ill take a look. Ill order one tonight

Thanks all :-)

I have the Z68 MB, less than a week ago i had the same problem, my solution was as above, clear cmos (with pins-and then removed battery) make sure when your booting your using onboard gphx card for your monitor and also your motherboard keyboard/mouse ports (not additional usbs) - OC will always help you (as they did me) with resetting your oc

Issue resolved!!!

with the below from Gigabyte's Support:

1) Remove the M/B from the case.
2) Only install the basic components on the motherboard – CPU, CPU cooling fan, one memory module, VGA card (if there is no VGA onboard) and power supply.
3) Reset the CMOS once - Disconnect the power cord from the power supply & detach the CMOS battery for 5 minutes then put it back.
4) Connect the internal speaker.
5) Turn on the power to see your system can power up. (Connect only the power switch from the case to the M/B)
