Need youre advice on this car

Agree. Though I drove a Vectra B which gave zero confidence, then a late MkIII Mondeo which was much more confidence inspiring. One was 10 years old and one was 2 years old though, so slightly accentuating any issues on the Vectra I'm sure!

Did the Vectra B and C differ much as regards steering, handling etc?

The only car I'd have that's a vauxhall would be the new insignia. Had nearly every current vauxhall as a hire car and the insignia is the only one I could get on with.

The vectra however is a horrid place to be. It was in those days vauxhall started putting dash buttons in random places.

Both dash layouts are similar on the Vectra and Mondeo neither is exactly the height of luxury. Not sure about random dash buttons on the C.

For me the Mondeo has aged much, much better. I think it's the radio / heater controls on the Vectra that does it for me (sad as I am I also hate the way the controls feel on the vectra / astra of the time) - the plastic just doesn't work now, looks particularly cheap, though I take on board that it now is cheap

So everyone saying get a mondeo. What model should i get and what should i look out for

Ignore the diesels unless you are doing 15,000+ miles a year. Most likely best to ignore the V6 unless you are doing such little mileage (say ~5,000 a year) that the fuel costs make no difference.

Beyond that, just look for the best specced you can get for the money. A Ghia X, or Zetec S or Titanium X (depending on if you want something comfy and specced, or sporty and almost as well specced) would probably be the best bet.

Could you get a titanium model for 2k?

I wish ford would stop using those god awful Sony units, they look like a chav refit.
Horrible tiny buttons and smeary gloss finish that doesn't match anything. In comparison the 6000 units were a joy, the volume control being exactly where your fingers rested on the gearstick. Having a 3.5mm aux makes life simpler rather than chasing Apples random choice of connector this month.
