Alienware m18x or m17x r4?

Moogley dell say your price can't include the warranty, and they are saying the only deal on warranty is ;
3 yrs Next Day In-Home Hardware & Premium Software Phone Support [add £360.00 £241.20 or £12/month1]
3 yrs Next Day In-Home Service with Premium Phone Support

im really confused, when i try to add the warranty on the dell site it costs 240 - definitely not free

and dell say they are not doing any free warranties, so i dont know what to believe

I got an upgraded warranty on my M17x but only as my first one died a horrible death never to work correctly again.

I'm surprised Moogleys is buying another one actually, he had an woeful time with Dell and an outlet model.

Seems a few have issues with outlet models, but then I did with a brand new one.

he's got a good price, seems legit maybe see if you can cancel your order and redo and get the better deal? But I will tell you, if your M17x works, you won't care too much about the cost, as they are stupidly quick gaming laptops..

don't worry too much about it all, they always have price changes etc.. Sure you'll be happy with your new alienware..

I have just called them and they have confirmed that the price of my laptop is including the 3 year warranty as per my order confirmation. Not sure why you cannot add it. If I configure another laptop the same it is still there ? I do not add it it is just there once you have added the laptop to the basket. During the options I have left it at the normal 1 year warranty.

It's not for me unfortunately, it's for my brother which the other laptop from the outlet belonged too. He is in the Army so it's easier for me to sort it. There is no way I could game on a 17" screen it's tiny... :D

The same?

Be warned, my first M17x has gone back, due to be on outlet soon. It was a true friday afternoon machine, so if anyone sees a M17x with a 750+32GB mSATA with 16GB and 7970M - avoid like the plague. Its my old one that was one horrible machine that simply doesn't work and had so many parts replaced its not even funny.

The 3 year warranty is indeed added automatically. Once you've put a system together and added it to basket, it should say "3 yrs Next Day In-Home Service with Premium Phone Support. Expires 24 January 2013" just above where the other promo's can be seen

Bagaante, how do you get that price though? Did you do it online or via an agent? I've put the same system together but my price is £1313, including using a 10% code and free delivery with the 3 year warranty.

With a rep

Cheers. Will phone the rep I spoke to before. I want a system with the i7-3740 and Killer wifi but all else the same as your own. Will see what he can do and will let you all know.

yeah so i see

question is will they honor it for me given they have told me all day it didnt exist

I doubt it if it's not on your order confirmation.

Mine states 3 year next day and have confirmed it is included. Best to call them again and see what they say.

Tbh the only good bit about the warranty is having it fixed next day. The sale of goods act would cover any problems after a year anyway although it might take a bit longer.

Phoned the agent I spoke to last year. He couldn't do much better than what I can get online if I include 5% cashback in addition to Dell's 10% code and free delivery: a price of £1475 for i7-3740, 7970M, Blu-Ray, Killer wifi, 1080P screen, standard ram and HDD.

He confirmed that 3-year next day warranty must have been a glitch on the website as it does not exist as far as he's concerned. That's what swung it for me so will keep my hopes up I can save £400ish and get one on the outlet.

If Moogleys has proof of it written on his order confirmation then Dell will likely honour it and has got himself a superb bargain. Maybe even cheaper than a similar machine on the outlet! Well done mate ;-)

If his quote and offer mention the 3 years ext warranty, Dell will honor this offer and he'll get it.

Dell charges way too much for their ext warranty plans, the next day isn't actually next day. Its subject to parts stock, as I so rudely found out only not so recently.

I paid £1450 for my M17x but got the warranty ext but only because my first M17x died within a few hours, otherwise I'd have not purchased it. I'd use the sales of goods act and not fit for purpose or last a reasonable length of time before developing faults.

Pulled that old chestnut on sony support for a PS3 that died after a year, tried to charge me, finally got a replacement for free.

I've noticed a weak area on my M17x, the speakers are good, but without the subwoofer lack punch. My old Studio had better bass sadly. But headphones soon cure that fault...
