AMAZING NEWS: Blockbusters....

I have not rented a dvd for 10 years or something like that. I don't understand why these businesses did not adapt to changing market conditions. They had a good placement in the market with a recognisable brand, they should have gone online as soon as they noticed the market shifting.

For once you can't say that it was price driven failure, as I always found BB very competitive when it came to video games and launches. Just that the sector which they once had a niche in (Rentals) has moved from a drop in service to a download/stream service, which in the UK they never moved too.

It's no surprise and you don't need an "Industry Analyst" to figure out that Administration was inevitable.

Does anyone know when the government think HMV's 8,000 soon to be laid off staff will stop being "strivers" and start being "skivers"?

Do you start being a skiver the minute you're laid off, or does it take a few days? A weekend? Weeks? Months?

South Park did a good ep recently about no one going to blockbuster anymore. I havent used one in like 10 years maybe more.

Still ashame but like other say if you dont use them you cant complain once they are gone.

Music magpie will be in there like swim wear to buy all there stock so wait for there buying prices to drop even more :D

Blockbuster had it coming... Although I will miss renting a game out for a week :(

Lovefilm ;)

Blockbuster did seem to have some of the best console game and pre-owned prices though, in fact I got my PS3 from there as they had the best deal by miles (even over online retailers).

Thank god for LoveFilm.
Although I found LoveFilm instant extremely poor.

These high street closures are perhaps partly due to online retailers like Amazon, but lets not forget Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda etc... They used to sell just food, but now there is very little that you can't buy there. They have certainly helped with the decline of the high street shop.

That and they concentrated in undercutting each others VERY low pricing the "specialised" stores for media etc didn't stand a chance.
