I have two questions for 920 users:

1. How good is the screen with just fingernails? As good as the old 5800 resisitive screen?

2. Do any other Nokia models share the same screen technology?

Thanks

Quick test.

1. Works with fingernails.

2. No idea... 820 perhaps. Someone else will confirm this.

:D

But does it work? Doesn't get a good write up on wpcentral, lots of issues apparently.

Thanks, I like the sound of a captive screen that always works like the old resistive type.

But the 920 is a little pricey, so would prefer something like the 820 if its got the same technology.

EDIT

Found it!

Previously, people were unable to use their smartphone touchscreens with gloved fingers or long fingernails, requiring them to remove their gloves, or awkwardly position their fingers with long nails in order to operate their phones. For the first time ever, ClearPad Series 3 technology instantly optimizes the touch experience by automatically detecting the presence of skin, gloved fingers, or fingernails, giving users a seamless multi-touch experience regardless of input methods.

I'll look for the cheaper 820

You might start seeing better deals once it comes across the other networks.

Whos got the exclusive at the moment?

They are about £450 on ebay

EE, Orange and T-Mobile group

But it's coming to other networks any time now. You can already get the 820 on other networks however.

Cheapest deal for the 820 is with Orange right now if you are a low usage consumer. Free, £15pm, unlimited texts, only 50mins and 250mb.

Edit: Pretty good deal on O2
24 Month Unlimited text and calls, 1GB Data
FREE £26pm
£50 cashback from quidco

Speedtest.net working fine here.

MASSIVE IMAGE WARNING :p

Worked for me too, installed and tested. Got no where near those speeds though Andy. What was your connection?

Anyone else get an audio update today/yesterday... and actually understood what it updated?

Still, its not bad :p

What did you use the re size the image?

The imaginatively titled 'image resizer' :D

Literally all it does is resize images, but it's free and simple to use.

Guys,

Phone has developed a weird issue...when I'm actually on the phone, the screen turns itself on and off rapidly, same if I've got a call incoming, making it almost impossible to answer the phone...note this does not happen all the time.

I'm beginning to think the sensor to turn the screen off is a bit dodgy...has anyone else has this?

Thanks,
Jake

Doesn't sound right. How long have you had the device? See if you can get it replaced.

I did read about some similar problems some users experienced with the Portico, but the fix was something silly. Ill see if I can find it.

Edit: Does this help? http://www.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-920s-suffering-brightness-issues-portico
