***The Official HTC Butterfly Thread ***

I noticed Mobicity had the white and red ( x920e) versions up for pre-order at a whopping £660. So I did a bit of Googling and found a seller on Ebay selling the X920D direct from Taiwan for £580 delivered, so I took the plunge.

I was going to wait for the M7 but I think the 4.7" screen was the only lure for me and to be honest I'm not even convince that's going to happen.

Screen is gorgeous, phone sits nicely in my hand and my thumb can easily reach all areas of the display. The Black version has the rubber back, which I thought would be wise for more grip.

Will give it a few days for the battery to settle in and then see what that's like.

Looking good!

Have you seen a one x or/and a nexus 4 display in real life? If yes, how does the screen compare?

Those specs and that screen (res) look awesome :-D ( (You are right the pics don't do the screen justice I imagine as it looks washed out in your pics though).

I can forgive HTC for forcing Sense UI on us (Why do the manufacturers never give us the option to switch these things off? ) given how good a phone the EVO 3D was on ICS. I'd be happy to have another HTC, and this spec looks sex.

I had a One X and a One X+ but not seen the Nexus 4. Very comparable to the One X , really good whites and sharp images. Obviously the text on the Butterfly is a lot better.

So essentially an even more awesome version of the one X/X+ display :p :D

There were comments that the colours weren't as good as the SLCD 2/IPS display, not as vibrant/saturated iirc?

EDIT:

How is the speed and smoothness?

Yeah, ignore my pics they're pretty crap let's be honest. :)

I did read some mixed reviews about the display, some stating it was amazing and others mentioning issues with vibrancy etc. Mind you I'm not sure what model the reviewers had, the Droid DNA or the Butterfly, the former I'd imagine though.

I think I'd need to see them side by side again to make a good comparison. For me the One X display was stunning, the One X+ not as good and I've no issues with the Butterfly's display but it's a possibility HTC did a balancing act between the display and a battery life.

The One X+ was very responsive, and so is this phone. I wouldn't expect anything else to be honest, apart from the hardware the software it the same Sense 4. No lag, nothing, nice and nippy. Best purchase for a long time.

Yeah, supposedly the SLCD3 display is a lot more power efficient, which would partly explain why the battery life is very good considering the battery size and resolution & size of the screen.

Did you not get stung with import duty?

Do the sides house speakers or is the speaker located on the rear? If only on the rear do you mind testing how loud it is when put down with face up (I use my phone as my talking alarm so it's important I can hear it go off)

Lovely looking phone though, I'm well jel

The side grills seem purely cosmetic and the speaker is placed at the bottom rear. Sound is nice and loud though, should have no issues with your talking alarm.

Nice to see one in the UK - not sure I'd be willing to put down £580 on one though!

Am waiting to see what this M7 is all about next month but if that's not all it's made out to be then I'd be tempted by the butterfly - if only for the 5" screen!

Let us know how you get on with the battery etc
