well hes got budget upto 400 but he wants to do the 3d side of gaming so hes thinking of a 680 gtx what model , which should he go for and is there any drops soon in pricing (was reading about the price drops in other thread )

cheers

Tell him to go for the Gigabyte WF*3 670 Dg. If he must have a 680, the MSI twin Frozr @ £359.99 is a decent price.

3D is a must for me and I have the Asus VG278H monitors, which means I am Nvidia tied if I want to keep 3D. Not bothered about that though.

xfire 7870 XT @ £400. Can't beat that performance for the price.

Erm don't think ocuk sell these anymore though..

xfire 7850s for near £300? Otherwise grab a 7950/70.

I dont know why people say "my 670 is as fast as a 680".They overclock to 680 speeds maybe but 680s overclock way past that.If your going to spend £400 then get a 680.

I agree as I have 2 of them but from what I have heard nvidia 3d is better and he wants 3d otherwise a 7970 would be my choice. No arguments there from myself sir :)

I'm not so sure on the 3D front, you tend to hear conflicting info on it!

Though I'll be sure soon enough as I'll be getting a 3D projector in the next few months. :p

Well you can get one of the 3rd party cooler 680's at £370.

However before splurging a vast amount of money, put your thinking cap on and work out, what he wants out of the cards, and then look at prices and workout what is the best choice or choices.

And what resolution does he game at?

Actually the 680 doesn't overclock "way" past an overclocked 670. There's 5% difference between them at the same clock speeds. As they're so close it's quite possible that a good clocking 670 would be faster than a bad clocking 680. That is why people say what they're saying.
