Quick question but just bought a battery charger for my bike from Germany which camE with a 2 pin connector on the old kettle / pc type lead. Now my question is can I simply just use an old pc kettle lead with the uk 3 pin and just therefore not need a 2 pin with a eu to uk adapter

Thanks

Yes, it will be fine.

As long as there's not a transformer (big power block) on the plug itself, you could wire a UK plug up to it instead.

Since it's just a kettle lead, bin the German one, and use a spare kettle lead.

depends what voltage the product uses and whether it has a built in transformer

Note: * Member countries of the European Union are presently striving to achieve a common mains standard.
From 1 January 2004 the mains supply should be 230V (-6%, +10%), 50 Hz (±1%). ie a range of 216.2 - 253V
This replaces the UK's former specification which was 240V ±6% (ie a range of 225.6 - 254.4V)
Variations should still be anticipated in some areas as the voltage will drop during periods of heavy demand and rise during periods of low demand.

Odd's are its same voltage and frequency as UK syuff

Might be worth checking that the unit itself can take 220/240V. It's rare to find something that is 110/120 only, but it's possible.

just checked the packaging which states:

input volts: 220/250 ac 50/60hz

so im guessing that its fine to just simply use a spare kettle lead as the lead has now power brick either. the product made by a uk company but i just managed to find it a lot cheaper from a german store

thanks all. havent been on ocuk for a while but been a member for over ten years and remembered while i love this place as you get quick helpful answers cheers all.

If it's from Germany it'll be fine, they use the same voltage and frequency as the UK (and the vast majority of other countries in Europe).

When I saw German and plug in the thread title I thought I was opening a different type of thread. This isn't what I wanted.
