Hey guys

Can someone tell me what is the max temp these cards can go to? My card seems to be pretty hot at 60 degrees. I have a fan on the side of the case blowing towards it also to try and keep it cool. Any info appreciated

Chris

Mine goes to max 62c on BF3 at 35% fan speed (silent basically) with little air flow in the case (200mm in the front on a very low speed) and a 120mm on the back at a very low speed)

the card will start to down clock itself at 80C by a tiny amount
60C is very cool for a GPU

This is at 70'C not 80'C.

60'C is very cool for a GPU and I wouldn't worry about it at all. I have a pretty aggressive fan profile and I hit 60'C max on most games ultra, usually sitting anywhere between 55-60'C.

2 front intake, 1 back outtake Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1850.
2 top outtake, 1 side intake Akasa Apache 140mm

60 degrees is nothing. My EVGA FTW edition gets to 75 at full load in intense games/ benchies. Doesn't bother me. It clocks down a whole 10mhz when it goes past 70. Windforce 670 I used to have didn't get much past 60 degrees.

I came from a gtx480 though which used to hit 88 degress, so it's all good to me!
Have also just replaced my faulty gigabyte 670 with a new MSI PE edition. About to do some temp tests now, on it's own and in SLI!....

Update - new MSI PE edition performs as well if not better than the windforce in terms of temps! Just ran 3 loops of heaven bench on max extreme settings and it didn't get past 60 degrees. Well chuffed.

you are right... I wasn't paying much attention as neither of my 670's goes above 32C on full usage :D

Have you manually overiden your gpu fans to run at 100% ? 32 degrees on full usage is just plain wrong
All gtx670 ive seen run at 60 degrees and the fans speed up or down automatically to keep them at that

Or maybe he is water cooled ;)

My 680's under water hit 40C under full load and ~50C with a big overclock.

If i turn off the heating in my room, ive seen my wf as low as 51c in bf3. Stock fan setting, v-sync off. Delighted with how quiet it is after owning gtx 470's in sli. Now they were an assault on my hearing.:D

I thought the EVGA GTX 670 FTW was supposed to be cooler and quieter due to it being on a 680 PCB with 680 cooler  Was thinking to get one rather than a custom cooler so that heat will exhaust out of the case but this puts me off a little.

Hi,

our 670s do start to clock down beyond 70 degree but the chipset is inspected for higher temps. If it is about overheating the card will shut down the system when it is getting close to 100 degree.

I can keep my FTWs hovering in the low 60s with a custom fan profile and a fairly good OC (1280). Not exactly quiet though.

This is my dillema mate! I might just get another windforce..

The temps I get with my evga FTW ie 75 degrees at max load in intensive games etc, is on the default fan profile. The fan goes at around 50% speed at this temp, and is nice and quiet. If you want to run a custom fan profile I'm sure you can get the temps down to keep it under 70, but the noise is a trade off. It does get quite noisy above 60% fan speed.

To be honest I'd rather have it quieter and let it throttle down 10mhz which is all it does. When you're running SLI 670s, you really don't need to worry about losing a tiny 10mhz boost do you!

Must admit I'm a tad disappointed in the FTW temps, compared to my defunct windforce, or new MSI PE. What temps do the reference cooler 670s run at??

gregster got it right, I'm water cooled (massive car radiator with 16 fans on 800rpm), my water temp is usually 3C over ambient and my graphics cards run at about 5C over that
