Is this damp on my wall?

What can I do to resolve this

Scrape it back and you might be able to paint it with a damp proof paint/spray.. that could hold it off..

Otherwise you should look for a source of the damp. Is the wall on a chimney breast? , is it near any waste pipes in bathroom/kitchen etc? On an outside wall?

Pricey fix is to get someone specialist to rectify it and put a damp course in if its rising. Or it may be coming from a roof leak or something.

This essentially, you need to find the source. If you cannot do so it may be worth getting someone in who can.

Think il get someone in, is it a job for a plumber? The wall is near an outside wall, it's right next to the front door. Thing is this is only happening on one side of the wall, not the other sides. Il post a pic when I get home from work so you know what I mean.

As you can see the dampness is only on the side closest to the door, the rest of the sides and in fact house is fine??

Yes its damp/mould. looks like its under the paint.
So probably transfer from the outside, is there a down pipe from the guttering there or similar.
Best bet is to dry the room out, attack the wall with anti mould and mildew cleaner and inspect the outside for water, if its a pipe clean your gutters if its from rain get some sealant from b&Q and cover the area with it.

Check the sealant down the side of the door outside. A leak down the door (or under the door frame) would likely cause a similar effect.

Scrape the wall down, wipe it down with a fungicidal wash and finally paint with an anti-mould paint.

Is this the only place its doing this? ts more then likely where you have a nice hot sweaty house and a cold front door area.

As above, is there anything obvious outside? is there a draft from the door when its closed?

There's nothing on the other side of the wall, just the brickwork of the house. Can anyone recommend some antimould cleaner please

EDIT: in fact noticed some tiny black spots in the corner of the bathroom ceiling which looks like mould :( Checked all the other rooms and their fine.

The black stuff is definately mould. Looks like you have a damp problem. I've seen enough of it to know. The other stuff you might see is white, fluffy mould.

You need to find the source of the damp penetration and fix it. You can kill the fungus but it won't sort out the damp.

Is there a draft coming through your door frame or is your door very cold on the inside? It could just be condensation, I was talking to the guy at work that deals with all the damp issues a couple of days ago and he said most of his callous to things exactly like your picture are simply condensation.
