Google iMac 8800 and see what google starts autocompleting for you. As I said earlier, the 8 series cards were bad in everything from the iMac to the MBP.

Remembered about the local company that I took my old MacBook to a few years ago, they've quoted me £194 inc VAT - I think that's pretty good!

My iMac has the 8800GS and I'm sure when I looked it up the exchange price was less than £100, which sounds about right - £100ish repair fee and a bit less than £100 for the part.

I ordered an 8800 for a Mac Pro the other day and that was well over £300. Erk.

Replacement GPU which was £160 inc VAT, labour I must've got at a reduced rate due to mates rates! He did some other stuff like clear out all dust, a few bits of resoldering - it feels a lot better and nice to have it back!
