Recovering Deleted Files?

I have recently done a format and fresh install of windows on my OS drive and missed some important folders to backup. What is the best freeware program to use to try and recover these folders back?

No idea, but the first thing you need to to is switch the computer off and go find another one to perform the recovery with. The more you use it, the less there will be to recover.

Have a look at Test Disk which is very good. There's also Recuva but not sure how well it will work in your case having done a format.

Recuva, enable the 'Deep Scan' option (not in the startup wizard, I think, but it's in the advanced options menu) and it'll stand a good chance. It's worked for me in situations like this, fantastic little program.

Pandora recovery works very well. Recuva isnt bad if a little dumbed down.

Getdataback for NTFS.

Stop using the drive immediately and attach it to another PC.

Recuva worked for me but I wasn't using the drive for my OS, j6m is right though can you use another machine to scan the drive?

As mentioned above, Getdataback for NTFS and Recuva are good, plus I also like R Studio.
