HMV Finally closing down for good?

I noticed quite a few retailers are trying that, argos will do it for £15 irc as well.
Not bad if its a large item

Amazon have done it in London for a few years, have used it a few times if I need (read want :P) something fast. I remember one year for Christmas I was let down by another supplier and it was the last working day, got it on Amazon same day no worries!

It's great not just because it's same day but they deliver at a time I am most likely back from work.

coop electricals does almost every white good on its site for free next day delivery with a 60minute time slot.

you cant beat that! the prices are usually cheaper than everywhere else aswell which is a shame because there website is largely unheard or and doesn't seem to appear on price comparison sites

How many chances did HMV need? First it started with the online retailers like Play and Amazon. It took them 7 years to realise that people wont play £12 for a cd they can get for £8. Then play etc started to discount DVD and they still didn't take any notice. iTunes comes along and they ignored that. Smartphones arrive, games go digital, films are streamed. How many chances do they need?

Talk about burying your head in the sand.

And you just know the top bosses will walk straight into another 6 figure salary job whilst the employees who now find themselves out of work will be struggling to find work.

Just another example that shows the 'top jobs' don't always deserve the ridiculous levels of pay they attract.

Just thinking ahead in 2 -3 years to come, where are young people going to get part-time jobs and stuff? I mean yes the supermarkets, but they can only employ so many staff

Really is going to have a knock on effect :/

I remember paying £21.99 in HMV for a 2CD compilation (LTJ Bukem Logical Progression) back in late 90s.

Bet back then none of us could have envisaged all the big high street record shops going bust.

So I've just read that GAME may decide to purchase some of the HMV stores. Can someone please tell me how this makes sense?

GAME almost went belly up because they had too many stores.

By the way.... I dislike these new avatars.

I also cannot believe GAME are looking to purchase up to 50 stores.

They were on the brink of collapse like 3 months ago, how have they possibly got any money left.

heard that last night on the news and they claim to get retail space where they dont currently have any.

but to me it just sounds like the same idiotic expansion plans that they had before of opening more sq footage than anyone else and expecting to make more profit because of it.

Ha I bought that too. Probably one of about 50 CDs I've ever bought. Looks like its selling on the Rain forest for £32.49 now!

Fair play to them I say, tbh in the same position I'd be lifting all the worthy stock that's left in store and selling it on to recoup the money I'm owed, damn sure they will be at the bottom of the pile when it comes to the administrators paying out.
