lol.... almost immediately regretted installing it in place of windows 7 ultimate :o

Will give it a while to get used to it.. but so far... not enjoying it at all. Especially not liking the need to use signed drivers :-(

Having to get another webcam now as well.. the upgrade borked my delicate Logitech Vid HD program that now keeps claiming my webcam is in use (it isn't). Not win 8's fault at all, but at least I had it working before lol.

Thank you for participating in our beta product we call windows 8, we hope you enjoy it and beta test it for us and pay for the privilege so we can make the next one better, we will endeavour to make the next version windows 9 work much better on release, and will release it by the time you get used to windows 8, hopefully by then all device for windows 8 will at least have drivers released also for them.
Please wait for sp1 to be released as this will fix all problems that should have been sorted out in RC, but didn’t.
Thanks again for trying out our latest operating system; we hope you also will buy the next one out next year :)

lol

I particulary don't like the 'all apps' menu.. it just looks awful. I remember it from Windows Phone 7... and I thought it was shocking then as well.

Not had a minutes problem with Windows 8, just as I had none with Windows 7 or XP before that. This anti-Win8 attitude on here with completely pointless replies regarding it are getting very tired. If you don't have a valid comment or help for the OP don't bother posting. We get it, some of you don't like Windows 8, get over it. It's the same retarded attitude which makes people for or against Macs, Windows etc - nobody is interested. You don't like Windows 8, great so go use Windows 7 or XP both of which are perfectly good operating systems.

OP have you tried reinstalling the software or running it in compatibility mode for XP? Logitech will update it eventually but they always lag 6 months or more behind on everything.

i like windows 8, it's slightly faster for gaming than windows 7, has the latest version of dx11 which hasn't been released on windows 7, driver support is slow for some device.

i have it on a spare pc, but wont install until sp1, did same with all version from m/s and it's served me well, too many here are far too serious and can't see the funny side of anything.

my first post was a jk :)

this board is anti lots of things, get over it

smile, it's almost the only things left that's free

(Zak, I got your joke ;-) )

No 64-bit.

The logitech issue should be solved, I'm just getting a different camera (Although I shouldn't have to..it's insane.. it's not win 8 that's the problem - I went and tried it on a Vista machine as well, and couldn't get it to work either - win 7 FTW ;-)).

I hope they allow you to skin or do better themes for Win 8 at some point :-)

What I do like about it is that they included news feeds and things like that straight away.. pretty neat.

I think the main problem is that I really liked Win 7. Did everything I wanted and was pretty darn stable. What I don't like about Win 8 is that the PC just feels totally bizarre using the metro interface... and the control panel and things like that seems even more buried than ever. And then daft things like you have to press escape to get out of some menu's, you cannot use the back button and there is no option to go back/OK or whatever.

your not alone, i installed it at my mates house, all worked fine, just couldn't get his wifi or router to work at all, no matter what drivers i got, in the end i bought for different types to find one that worked with his connection, sent 3 back :)

Well.. starting to get used to it a bit now... still trying to figure out how to change the stupid picture as you are logging out, or how to quickly shut down rather than having to sign out first (rather than pressing the power button on the PC). Installed the free media centre. Doubt I'll ever use it, by why not eh?

In good news... my webcam now appears to be working with Logitech VID HD.. in fact both were working side by side. Unplugged the HD-3000 and the VX-5000 was still working, and have restarted since then.. so all seems good. Not really sure why it started working other than did some updates, a lot of which where for .net framework, so maybe something in that. (although I still think VID HD is the culprit).

Add it to Win+x menu (right click in left corner ),http://www.howtogeek.com/113775/add-shutdown-and-reboot-to-the-windows-8-winx-menu/ .

Configure the PC to shut down on pressing the power button if you want something fast.

This, it's the single best one click solution to turning the computer off.

Give the OS time as well, pointless making up your mind so quickly. I get where you're coming from with the new start screen but I've never bothered with it much like I never bothered with the start menu since Vista. Winkey+whatever I'm looking for and bam. On occasion it does require movement of the mouse but it's rare.

I installed Windows 8 around twenty days ago and have not had a single problem that wasn't my fault*, except for User Account Control - which I eventually fully disabled, meaning I cannot run store applications. Apart from the Recycle Bin I prefer to keep my desktop empty and find that the start screen is a more organised and structured way of accessing my applications. For folder navigation I just keep the file explorer pinned to my task-bar, along with most commonly used applications (Firefox, TeamSpeak, Steam, Skype ect).

I am only slightly disappointed with the fact that I cannot use the file history function to backup files to an internal drive which is linked to my libraries (such as Documents, Pictures ect), or to a folder on the same drive which is setup to synchronise to Google Drive.

* On my first installation I forgot to restart after Windows Update automatically retrieved an older set of Nvidia drivers, before manually installing the latest myself. Cue my screen going black and my computer being able to POST. All was fixed after a PSU power off and CMOS reset. :o
