We've got a decent CCTV system at our house with ANPR (Number Plate Recognition System)

Now for some reason the Police know of our home CCTV and visited today to view it's recording as a local guy was murdered and they suspected the car drove past our street.

They managed to find the suspected car from the recordings; get the number plate and save the recording to their USB stick which is all good, but I somewhat feel that if we are going to be harassed by them in the future that there should at least be some kind of Government grant to help fund homeowners and to help the local Police.

Is there such a scheme in place?

Lol you help to potentially solve a murder and you think it's harassment? And you want the police (ie the taxpayer) to fund improved security for your house? Haha.

YES! The CCTV is for our protection not for the Police to use for their own investigations. Otherwise get the council to spend tens of thousands to install a CCTV system.

How is catching a murderer not for your protection?

It could just have easily been you.

Surely helping the police to catch a murderer is in your best interest, as he could have popped round to your house next.

Let's hope should you ever get broken into or something in the future then, the Police decline to accept your CCTV evidence and say "Sorry, that's for your own protection, it's not to be used for our investigations"

So withhold the Evidence because you don't get a grant and somebody else get killed, hurt, raped ect

Makes you feel good does it?;)

Like I said it's all good that they managed to find the suspect I'm not that cold hearted, but if there is no such scheme in place then there should be one.

Why should there?

Because you've decided that you could have made a bit of money today rather than just being a decent human being for the sake of it?
