Do the Police give grants to people to have CCTV installed at home?

Relax guys, it's not like he refused to help them.

He just wants to know if there is any money available to help him maintain his CCTV if the Police want to use it again, it's not out of the question.

I think you lot should get your head out of your asses. Obviously it helps the Police investigations if they can rely on homeowners but wouldn't it be helpful if there was a scheme to help fund people who cannot afford such equipment?

If more people have covert systems then the Police have more lines of investigation.

When I had my system installed the last thing I was thinking "Oh maybe it will help Mr X if his car gets stolen" Get a grip and don't try and come across as saints.

Exactly. I have a 1TB HD installed which self-writes when it gets filled (5 days) That works for us. If the Police wanted to look at footage from 6 days ago then they'd be out of luck. If there was a scheme then I could get a bigger HD.

I know I may come across as selfish, but my priority is my family and those who live close to us (neighbors) so the system works. Now it was an unexpected call and if there are going to be more occurances then I'd like to know if the Government can help.

Actually that is a significant factor in having CCTV. Good neighbours are like gold, they keep an eye on my stuff and I'll keep an eye on theirs.
My direct neighbour actually points his right across the road to look out for his friends house.

You must be one of those selfish people that lives in a city

It's not often I'm staggered by ocuk GD but I am right now. Absolute shameful OP that you would even consider being recompensed for helping a murder enquiry. There's no wonder people think this country is ****.

Why don't you call the A-TEAM?

Honestly, it's not like he didn't help, he's just asking if there is money available for him to improve and maintain his CCTV set up seeing as the Police have requested to use it.

Relax everyone.

That's ****. Don't turn this around. From your OP, it sounds to me that the entire reason for making this thread is to have a moan at the police who were simply doing their job. You quite obviously got annoyed at having to help the very people who work to keep you and your community safe and feel like you should be paid something in case they decide to "harass" you again in the future.

Ironically, if you'd registered your CCTV and complied with Data Protection Laws the Police would have had to pay a maximum fee of £10 for a copy of the data :D

I'm not turning anything around. I'm stating it how it is and you can interpret it how you want.

OP. Just when I thought I had heard it all, you drop this one! You helped the Police potentially catch a criminal through equipment you already have installed. That in itself should be enough, however you want paying for this?

I give up. We're all doooooomed.

YES! The CCTV is for our protection not for the Police to use for their own investigations. Otherwise get the council to spend tens of thousands to install a CCTV system.

But it is for the police to use if there has been a crime committed, stop being so greedy:rolleyes::rolleyes:
