Do the Police give grants to people to have CCTV installed at home?

Its like hoover being synonymous with vacuum cleaners - ANPR just refers to the process of analysing a digital image to produce a list of the number plates that can be recognised in the image by a computer system. What then is done with that information i.e. querying a police database is another matter but lumped under the same term when talking about what the police do.

right, so what is the difference in information the 2 give?

ANPR is merely a system for recognising and identifying numberplates

On a police system this is linked to their databases to pull information they have relating to that number, on a home system it just gives you a numberplate.

but I somewhat feel that if we are going to be harassed by them in the future that there should at least be some kind of Government grant to help fund homeowners and to help the local Police.

Is there such a scheme in place?

What a neoliberal Friedmanite idiot!

Why should you expect payment for doing your civic duty? It cost you nothing for the police to get a copy of your CCTV on their thumb drive so why should you expect payment? It's not jury service were you miss work and are compensated for it.

I think the Op is just trolling tbh. If he is for real I feel sorry for society, but then again the majority of people flamed him so maybe the majority of the people in the UK are still nice.

If I had CCTV installed at home and it helped provide evidence I would be posting on here saying "Wooo I helped catch a murderer!" and be proud I helped out.

The fact the Op described the police as harassing him leaves me thinking that its just a troll post.

Consider you have given evidence to convict a murderer (a bad person), the case falls through on a technicality... and you gave evidence to convict him

*devil's advocate*

no idea how theyd know you had a system, perhaps they just saw the cameras?
