Well sorry to bring this up, but your Maths is way off, you are about 100 posts closer than the 996 you thought you had to go.

I thought I should state this, as you don't always see what is easily perceived.

Really though... Why can't we PM others?

I think that having PMs uses resources and generally makes the forums cost more, whereas the trust system does the same(ish) thing but offloads the work onto whichever email providers you have elected to throw ads in your face in return for electronic communication.
