Tablet for business usage....(Windoes 8 or iOS?)

I would stick with a full windows 8 one if you can, as you will end up with users looking to install something on the OS.

We got one of the Samsung Smart Pro ones at work running the I5 and it's a device and I love the fact that you can simply write into word use the pen. Great little device with around 5-6 hours battery life.

I wouldn't rule out the Windows 8 ones personally. Surface + Type cover is probably a safe bet but as great as it is I would hesitate before buying a load of them.

You're in a bit of a pickle at the moment because the market is so young and there doesn't seem to be one stand out device. If I were you I would try to get as much hands on time with some as possible. Buy 1 Surface and pilot it if you have to.

Hi all, been tasked with trying to dig out some tablets for work for management to use when out at conferences and in meetings etc and i'm just wondering what people find the best type of tablet for business use?

Should I get Windows RT which I know has a pretty much fully fledged Office install on it, but be limited to only Marketplace apps?

Should I try and find a Windows 8 Pro tablet which will have the added benefits of being able to install our already licensed software (and anything else we can find), but can be added to the domain and be locked down in the same way our laptops are?

Or should I opt for an iPad (with Retina) and use iOS and the millions of already well established apps out there?

I think basically the ability to run our internal web applications in the browser on the devices would be a big bonus, and obviously the ability to open and fully edit any of our documents (word, excel, powerpoint, pdf, access) would be great but other than that i'm not sure what else I should be looking for!

Or is it a case that all 3 of the devices above would do it fine and just pick whichever is the best price point for us?

Any help, advice or insight is much appreciated!

Get a ultrabook

I think an RT device might do it. I'm going to see if we can get a trial of a Samsung Ativ Tab or the Surface and see how it plays!

I echo the Ultra book shout, the Sammy 6 Series is only about £100 more than a Surface RT with a case.

The only comparison that might swing it would be battery life.

Well the next ultrabook platform should sort your battery life worries out as the minimum stated battery life for the haswell line of ultrabooks needs 9 hours,up from 5 with the current ivy bridge requirement.

Also required are touch displays and a few other things,i think hybrids are the future with the ability of having a 'proper' spec convertible tablet that you can transform into a laptop whenever you want or need.

I think (and hope) haswell is going to be the death knell for these low powered slow atom chips.

Theres nothing wrong with the atom. Yeah sure it doesn't get the best benchmark scores but day to day usage the new atoms are fine. I do admit they are pricey though
