Would you volunteer in a US civil war?

Civil war in america, between liberals and conservatives, neither of which sound "extreme" enough to want external input from individuals.
Slightly different idea to fighting the forces of fascism in the 30s really.
As polarising as politics is in the states it has a long way to go to the 20th century differences between Fascism, Communism and the western democracies.
In the 30s I'd like to think I'd have gone to Spain for one of the international brigades but I'd never know.

In short: lolkwerk.

None, there is a reason we kicked them out many years ago. There all a bunch of self righteous religious nutters. Lets them blow themselves up and give the land back to the Scandinavia.

No. I'm not from the US.

Their argument, not mine.

Pretty much this.

That said, if I had to choose, I'd fight for the Liberals. I agree with their politics more. That said, the conservatives are better with guns... Might be the intelligent choice to side with...

Which weapons would you choose, kwerk? I'm assuming you'd demand something a bit more potent than the standard AR-15?

As much as America is divided politically, there's no real desire for secession from the union in any state, so a civil war is incredibly unlikely.

The population of the UK would overwhelmingly side with the democrats, not that we'd actually get involved. Republicans are viewed as a joke the rest of the world over. Bunch of nutters.

(Stereotyping Republicans\Democrats there, but broadly accurate).

Like Orwell or Hemingway did in the Spanish civil war. Or foreign mujahadeen in Chechnya and the like.

Imagine America descended in to a second civil war probably between liberals and conservatives. The anglo-saxon equivalent of the arab spring.

Which side which you join and why? Adventure, fortune, moral reasons?

You would get trained and kitted out and everything, and if your side won you would receive:

  • Full citizenship of the new country
  • War veteren privileges (priority for jobs, discounted loans, etc)
  • The modern equivalent of "40 acres and a mule" i.e. a suburban mansion previously owned by the enemy, and all the cheeseburgers, bibles and SUVs you can handle.
  • A special medal

The loosing side, i would balance the scales so as the war would not be swift and would last until ALL are destroyed
