My budget is around 450 pounds. You think I Can get a cheaper CPU without affecting performance? I am planning to game on this machine btw, and also not planning to OC. Will be using my own case, HDD, and PSU

Thanks in advance

EDIT:budget*

The 660 is considerably better than the 7850 clock for clock though, people always link that comparison on Anandtech and I often wonder if they bother to scroll down.

I really donn't know which one I should buy. Also If I get either of them and leave my Q6600, do you think it will defeat the point of upgrading my GPU?

It might be alright, what speed is the Q6600 running at, and what motherboard do you have?

If you're not going to be overclocking, then there is no point to getting the 3570k, you may as well save £18 and get the non-k version (though tbh, you may as well get the K version and clock the living daylights out of it)

As to the graphics card, its a bit of a six of one half a dozen of the other, I have the 660 SC myself and I think its a great card, though I hear good things about the 7850. It really comes down to which you personally prefer. I like Nvidia and will tend to stick to them.

2.4 and I have the Gigabyte P35 DS3R.

You should be able to overclock the Q6600 a decent ammount with that setup, I can't help past this point though as the Core 2 era was one I unwillingly skipped so I have no experience overclocking on the 775 socket.

You should be able to find a hoarde of people on here who could help you get at least 3.2GHz out of it though if you ask in the right places :)
