Hi, I have a little problem with my sons PC.

It's running an Asus P8Z77-V LX. It has one HDD and one optical drive.

I built it late 2012,around November time. Been running smotth up untill just now.

When the PC boots up it goes staright to the BIOS. I then see the boot order is set to the disk drive and not the HDD.
I set it up so it boot from HDD,works ok so I recon nothing up with the MBR.
When the PC is powered down and left the problem starts again...

The board is brand new.

I was wondewring if the CMOS battery is failing would this cause the problem ?

And if the CMOS battery was at fault could there be a fault on the board which discharging the battery ?

I have another asus mobo which i could rob the CMOS battery from..

Or is there summet else I should be looking into...

Any help or advice please..

It might be a bios issue. Have you updated to the latest bios version?

Just done a quick check on the asus downloads site. The latest version available for the P8Z77-V LX is 1502 released on 03/12/12.

No, I did not update the BIOS.

Would It be advisable ?

Off to download it now...

Just downloaded the lates BIOS version.

Loaded it onto a USB stick, booted up into the BIOS,the version was old,0610.
Updated the BIOS using EZ tool or what ever they call ( within the BIOS Tools )

It booted up nicely. Powered it down. Booted into BIOS and set defaults, saved and exited.

It then booted into Windows nicely.

Hoping that this was the problem and easily fixed.

Cheers...:D
