Argh been driving around fine all weekend, then go my mums and got stuck on the drive. It's a steep drive and the back end slipped onto the lawn and its dug in 2-3 inches. I just want to leave it till the weather improves but she is moaning her bag off to get it shifted.

Any ideas on how to get it moving? Due to the diff the wheel on the drive is stationary and the one on the grass just spins. Car is inches from garage door so can't back it up any :p

Get 2 or 3 people to push it while you drive, give as much power as you can without causing a spin, some good clutch control and a bit of muscle you'll be out in no time.

I got stuck the other night at my girlfriends, grass/mud drive and ice on a slope! Ended up facing a tree pointing downhill. Had to wait until morning for a push!

Snap!

Mine spun 90 degrees but luckily just missed the grass. Ended up digging it out as the drive is flat.

Either tow it out of leave it, not much you can do really. What car is it?

Its a e39 525i auto. On the pulling it out, drive is steep and i can't see any way of pulling it out straight :(

Tying sticking some old towels underneath but barely got it moving.

Put something under the wheel that is spinning. Canvas style rubble sacks are great for this.

hmm sounds like a plan, will clear drive tomorrow and see what i can try and nab from work to stick underneath it

Kids today, they would die of hunger if soup tins didn't have a ring pull :(

Get some sticks, push them down in front of wheel, drive out slowly in 2nd gear.

Does it half any form of locking diff? If not put it in drive, it is essential one wheel spins gently. Apply foot brake gently. This will break the skipping wheel and send power to wheel that may have available grip

Did make me laugh, took some soup work on Friday and was distraught when it had no ring pull, had to use the leatherman took me about 15mins get it out.

Will give that ago matt82, did try to gently pull away with hand brake on incase that had similar effect.

One wheel on the grass and you don't know what to do.... really!

Please hand in your licence at the nearest Police station.

:p
