Buying second hand XBox games - Is there anything I need to be aware of?

We got an XBox 360 for XMas. If I'm looking to buy second hand games, is there anything I need to worried about?

For example, looking to get Halo Reach, which is a lot cheaper second hand than new. Should I be aware of anything regarding second hand games? Will they just install and play like new. Any online or DLC issues etc?

You will need to check games for online passes a lot of them are doing this now (Battlefield 3, Fifa Far Cry 3, Need for Speed Most Wanted etc) all use online passes which are redeemable once, then the only other thing is DLC.

Most games would have had the DLC used but you might get lucky.

The reason Halo Reach is probably so different in price is it's an old game, AFAIK this game does not use an online pass.

So you're suggesting with Halo Reach at least, there's nothing to go wrong with a second hand copy (regarding used codes etc)?

You can buy an online pass for any game if you need it.

It usually comes up when you first boot the game, either enter the code, buy a pass or have a 7 day free pass.

From what I have read there should be very little to go wrong.

You can't really go wrong anyway, if the game does have an online pass you can buy them off the marketplace for around £8 anyway.

The trouble with this is that once you add on the cost of the pass plus the cost of the pre-owned game there's a good chance you've not really saved any money and could have picked a new copy up for the same/similar price

Fifa 12. I dont want to play "proper" online multiplayer, just against a friend of mine via the net. If i got a secondhand copy would I need to buy this online code still?

Ridge Racer unbounded

Will there be any problems with any of these games listed above if there secondhand ??

Anything from EA that has anything MP related will have an online pass

PGR & Forza (Forza has inclusive DLC which would probably have been used) don't use a pass, if it's the new Most Wanted that requires a pass (you can go online without the pass, but you will not earn any online score) everything else leaderboards etc will work, DOA5 & RRU I am unsure of.
