Morning guys,

Looking for some suggestions of a summer holiday. Our past 4 holidays have all been to a hotel in Sharm el Sheik which we liked due to the massive swimming pools, decent weather and it was nice to just relax for a few weeks.

We've decided to go elsewhere this summer but I'm struggling at the moment. We are looking to go for between 2 and 3 weeks from 13th August.

We've been looking on Thomsons, Thomas Cook, Lowcostholidays etc.... and everything we find just doesn't actually look that nice even if it's rated 4* or 5* by the travel operator.

We'd like to keep the flying distance down if possible so nowhere longer than 6 hours really, America is out of the question and we are doing a bit trip to America next year anyway.

Has anybody got any websites they use that are not just for mass booking of cheap holidays for everybody, we don't mind paying more to go to a nicer hotel with a bit more luxury. The last thing we want is a hotel / area over run by screaming kids!

We've not set a budget yet but for the place we like in Egypt I would expect to pay £1500 for flights, hotel with all inclusive for the time we want to go. We'd like to stay all inclusive and the holiday is probably going to be a relaxing one.

TL : DR - holiday in the summer, hot place, flight less than 6 hours, bit of luxury, not likely to be infested with screaming kids and full of people from Eastenders.

Went to Xanadu Island in Akyarlar Turkey for a week. Would recomended but 2-3 weeks maybe become boring as no night life really. There's a video on youtube advertising the hotel.

Although not specifically what you've stated in the OP, dotting around the southern Thai islands for a couple of weeks could be fun. :) It'll be a little different to sitting on a resort, and will likely work out cheaper.

Will have a look.

Me and the gf did 2 weeks all-inclusive in the Hilton Turkbuku in Turkey and thoroughly enjoyed it. The highlight for us was that there were no chavs at all.

Interesting, the hotel we stay in at Sharm is a Hilton and we've enjoyed it.

Unfortunately I cannot find a single website that will let me see prices and availability for that hotel for August. Potentially something to it closing for '31 October 2012 until 15 April 2013.'?

My favourate place is Oludeniz in Turkey it's an amazing place with fantastic scenery, friendly locals, great beaches and plenty of places to visit.

Here's a link to an excellent forum about the place :)

We've just booked for the 4th time with Jet2Holidays for £500pp for Flights, 11 nights Half Board and Transfers Staying at the Karbel Beach. There are hotels that do all inclusive but I'm not keen on AI as I like to go out and about of an evening!

What do you want to do? the fact you are looking in those horrible places, suggest a package Holliday doing nothing?

Previously we've only ever done these cheap and cheerful package holidays, hence not knowing a decent place to look.

We want a nice hotel to relax in with good weather and hopefully no kids or chavs running around annoying us.

Iran, it's actually really nice there, and they are desperate for tourist $$.

No.

A serious suggestion, have you looked at going to Jordan?

There are fantastic beach resorts in Aqaba and then you can do a night in Wadi Rum and a day or two in Petra.

Sunset in Wadi Rum is one of the highlights of all of my travelling. Aqaba looked nice from the 15 minutes I spent there.

Cuba? Heard lots of good things about it and some of the beaches/resorts are meant to be lovely. Although I thought the flight time would have been less than 10 hours, so probably a bit far for you.

Do you actually want to do anything bar sit in a hotel for 3 weeks? ie, do you want somewhere with lots of interesting things to see or does it not really matter as long as the hotel is nice and the weather is good?

Why not try a touring holiday? You get to see some fantastic places! My last holiday for example had a zero hour flight and temperatures of up to 37c and even included the Hilton brand you like so much. Plus 3 stunning capital cities and 9000ft mountain scenery. Gotta beat sitting in a hotel for 3 weeks. Try it!

Yeah we looked at cuba and surrounding islands, at the moment it's off the cards due to the flight time but that may change.

Is that £1500 per person or for both of you?

Per person.

This is a 'do nothing and relax' holiday. We're going driving round Europe for 2 weeks this year and already planning a big 3-4 weeks in America next year. This holiday is just about hot weather and a really nice hotel. Not the most exciting of things to do but it's what we want :)

I stayed in that hotel with the gf year before last, it was ace and loved it. Would have gone back last year but they had some building work in the hotel. Should be finished now.

Located just at the top end if the strip, you will have to let me know how it is this year as I would like to go back :P

OP: Me and the gf have just booked a 4star lazy all inclusive hotel in Tunisia might be worth a look. I am sure it is prob not as big as sharm but it is only a 2 hour flight, cheap and probably a lot quieter, hopefully less chavs. :)

I like the look of that hotel but am struggling to find it anywhere really, only Thomas Cook seem to have rooms and they've only got 1 room left for our date. I can't even book a room through the Hilton website so something isn't quite right there.

Tunisia - had not thought about it, having a brief look on the map is there any worry about conflicts and issues going on in that area? I can see it's Libya and Algeria?
