Faulty GTX 680?

Douche? It was the buses fault that guy had no choice if he stopped he would have died lol??? He did the prefect thing at that time.

On topic, that means that Lambdatek will stick the "faulty" card back on the shelf as second hand and have scored for a new card? Or will Gigabtye keep the faulty card?

At the start of the gif he looks at the bus and makes a run for it. Don't know about you but if i see/hear a bus doing 40mph 10 yards from a zebra crossing i don't think about trying to run in front of it. I guess he was in a hurry or something but still.

Back on topic. Let us know how you get on op.

He doesnt look at the bus until half way across and when the red light is on you dont expect a bus to crash through a car to squash you on a crossing? I still think he did the right thing.

Who has the faulty card atm?

i dont like the fact that u where gonna sell it on ebay as if there was nothing wrong with it, but then u say ur worried about the company ur returning to will sell it to someone else.

Gigabyte have already insisted that they have the faulty card back first, and rightly so, I would not expect them to send me a new card without getting the other one back first. I think she has the wrong end of the stick slightly. I will speak to both parties tomorrow and update.

You are wrong. If you read in detail it was recommended that I sell the replacement offered to me by Gigabyte on ebay if I did not want to keep it, or if the problem persisted with the second card (meaning that it would be my system not the card)

Well he got screwed and the only way to get his cash back is to screw someone else? Either way someone is getting screwed with that card lol!

I would never do that. The whole reason I am in this mess is because I am an honest person. If I had lied to begin with and returned the card under DSR's then I would have had my money back weeks ago. Instead I told the truth about the fault...

I do. It was returned to me by the retailer without my permission when they refused the refund.

Truth gets you nowhere these days!

Yep, but if it was not me then it would have likely been someone else. I just have to tell myself that karma will pay me back in some way at some point.

Fair play to Gigabyte to be honest, take their offer up is my advice. Think my next card might be a Gigabyte, or an MSI. :D

I would not buy MSI again.. had issue with mobo three pc's back and their customer service was awful. Gigabyte have been great with this, they even offered to let me come to their unit in the UK and watch them test it etc if I wanted, but it is like 200 miles away, so no go. They answer every email in a max of 2 hours and have generally been pretty great. From what I have been told only EVGA offer an equal level of service.

Shame Gigabyte don't make a nice custom cooler that blows the heat out the back of the case, only Evga classifieds and His seem to do so, totally mystifys me ! especially with quite a few cards taking more that 2 slots now.

Also that was another massive difference between your old card and new one..extra heat dumping on the motherboard !

Blowers are really noisy though?

And i think most people have good airflow for the fan cards?

I wouldnt get another blower, i dont do multicard setups though.

Not really, lots of the ATI cards were sure, my PC's are silent really just a low speed woosh of 140mm fans and full load gaming you can not really hear the GFX card which gets up to about 70% fan over 120mm Noctua CPU fans which are not really noisy.

My Max temps are about GFX 59c CPU 59c Mobo 32c, that's at full GFX load or Prime95
(Please bear in mind nothing is factory standard)

I've had Direct CU cards, sure they are very very quiet but everything else is much hotter !

Yeah the windorce cools the card amazinlgy well BUT witht eh NH-14D there is like 1cm gap, amaybe less beween the top of the card and the cpu cooler... all that hot air gertting blown on the coller no doubt reduces it cpu cooling. Irony is though, the 480 is SOOOO hot it is ridiculous, in my old rig I had to upgrade all my system fans when I bought it as it was cooking the NB and cuasing a warning light to come on the mobo, wnet away once I put in 5x Sythe 1800rpm fans, but it was hugely noisy on full blow!

New rig is much quieter, 3x 180mm fans in base blow upwards, the FT02 is a weird case as the mbob sits on it's side. But it was really designed for rear blow cards.

See above, I have good airflow in case, but cpu cooler sits so close to GPU that airflow conflicts. Blowers are much better for over all system temps as all the hot air goes out the back. Windforce 3x fans are super cool, card sits at 4-5 degrees above ambient at idle, comapred to 15-20 dgrees on the 480. Max temps are atounf 75 on the 680, and 94 on the 480. I cannot hear my 480 blower design over my cpu fans on the Noctua. My old 280 blower was massivley loud though.

As an update on the overall situation:

I spoke with my contact at Gigabyte this morning on the phone, they service really is second to none. I have dealt with the same guy all the way through, he knows me by name and is polite and interested in the issue.

He was a bit surprised at the reatilers offer, he said it was all very irregular and that they should not ask me to do such a thing; they should just refund me if they are going to do it and sort the rest out with GBT direct.

Gigabytes offer to me is that the retialer MUST RMA the card back from me to them and refund me. They have then agreed to replace the card to the retialer if they RMA the card back to GBT.

He sorted all this for me over the course of this morning. The fact that they agreed to do it (when they have no obligation to) just shows what a top notch compnay they are, and even if their cards are not rear blowers (;)) they have my loyalty for life.

Now I jsut need to hear back from the retailer and see what they say. I had hoped ot get a resonse by now as I sent them a mial 5 hours ago, but I spose I need to be patient as I am delaing direct with teir MD.

Good move to be straight with Gigabyte, on the home straight now ;)

I can't believe that poor old 480 has lasted so long at 90c, I do like the concept of some of the silverstone cases ;)

The 480 has been the most reliable card I have owned, despite is massive temps. I got the silverstone case because of the air cooling benchmarks I found online, addded to the fact that it has a more discreet look. I am not a fan of the fancy gimicky looking cases.

As an update; I mailed the retailer early on Friday Morning, it is now mid afternoon Monday and i have still had no reply. I have recieved further contact from Gigabyte confiming they will replace the card to the retailerdirectly to enable me to receive a refund. All hangs on the retialer coming back to me now... maybe the snow caused her not to go to work.

They probably had their butts kicked by Gigabyte for the way they've dealt with your problem
so they're dragging it out as much as they can
