Christ you can root the thing and run android apps!? http://motoactv.wikispaces.com/

Wonder how it runs satnav apps.... off to do some research.

haha yeah i did root mine but then i stopped as i couldn't be bothered really! but it runs google maps fine! :D

edit

got to work today fine.. main roads were good! :) but the park/residential streets are killer.. couldn't get up the hill at the park and then going down hill i had to keep my foot on the ground to keep balance because it was too much for my 23mm slicks..

but hey i made it

Schwalbe Marathon Winter tyres = thumbs up from me. I did have to walk up one hill though, as I couldn't get enough traction on the back wheel. Better than getting the tram!

You can feel the weight though; nearly a kilo each. You make progress but it's never going to be defined as quick.

On Saturday I went out for a few hours and I don't think that I made it over 25kph.

The Motoactv thing looks pretty good, only lacks speed/cadence sensors but I'd definitely buy one over an Edge 200.

Having said that, I bought an Edge 705 for £100 in summer and it's not let me down yet. Battery life is awesome and navigation works well once you figure it out.

afaik it works with pretty much everything.. + it has ant+ support. :o

It looks decent, i paid less for my Bryton 40 when you add the bike mount, HR & Cadence so i think i would still prefer the Bryton with the battery life etc esp as you cant actually buy one @ £99 anymore!

I like my Bryton 40 a lot - had it a couple of months now. The device itself is great, only thing that lets it down a bit is the website software is a bit pants in some things. Though they seem to update it fairly regularly so i'm sure they'll get there in the end.

Out of interest - can you confirm if there is an auto-pause feature on the device? I've never been able to find one, so i'm assuming there isn't. Would be a handy addition, as I liked that feature when i used to use Endomondo on my phone.

I'm looking to get a bike holder for our communal hallway. Something that can be screwed into the wall and one or two bikes put on and locked to parallel to the wall. Any recommendations?

I dont think there is one tbh, i like the unit and i took a punt on it as it cost me under £130 for the unit with HR & Garmin cadence - i bought it as a stop gap until Garmin launched the new 8xx and i was going to get one in summer but its been so good im not so sure i will 'upgrade' to the Garmin!

I only upload to the site, output to Strava and runkeeper so not fussed about the site but as yet its always worked so no real issues!!

I bought the bryton 50 and really enjoy it, i dont use the bryton website at all at the moment though it is rather awful, upload the rides straight to strava, and plan rides on ridewithgps

Top right somewhere. I think you click on your name, maybe? And then Upload Activity?

big orange button at the top - right side.. "upload activity"

I think he's talking about his bryton? which i guess doesnt have the direct-upload browser plugin that garmins have.

How do you upload straight to strava?

1- "upload" (in the top right)
2- "upload files from my computer"
3- navigate to storage of device (garmin is '\Garmin\Activities\' and the files are named by date-time)
4- select the activities to upload

I have to do this with my garmin as the browser plugin doesnt work with linux-based operating system :(

The browser plugin doesn't work with Windows for me so don't feel too left out. :D

Would anyone be interested if I created a separate thread for sportives and organised ride reports? Just a thought because I know a few people mentioned doing the Cheshire Cat and it gets lost in here, would be a good way to see what everyone's up to and potentially meet up if a few of us end up doing the same sportives.

What about running the Windows browser version via WINE?

I don't see why not?

Yeah i thought he meant you could directly upload from the bryton to strava, currently to it via the bryton site!

I have entered my first ever sportive, Hethersett 30/60 - going for the 60 mile option and i really need to get off my bum and riding as not been out this year yet :o
