I love these and I'm pretty sure I musy have one

Musy admit they look nice, these have the frameless doors as well yes?

0-60 in 8.4? I always thought these were properly quick?

Also, you don't yet have a kid, so are looking for an estate?

No, but we do have a Boxer puppy who won't stay a boxer puppy for long. Interesting choice of engine given that info :D

They aren't going to set the world on fire in terms of performance unless tuned, but my word, they tune well. Really, I'm looking for strong Jap reliability and I fancy that the rest of the car will blow up before the engine does. Oddly, we borrowed a friends Nissan Navara at the weekend, an 05 plate 2.4TD. 190k on the clock and it was running an absolute dream. This is something I need to be able to forget about and at these prices I don't see an issue here.

This is one of the features I like about the Impreza. The doors are frameless and the feel you get when you open the door and there is no frame while the window is down.

The 3.0R is a more sedate drive than the GTB but is still a good car if you need the space. The turbo is obviously more of a hooligan which can be fun if you like wagons which are deceptively quick.

What has an estate got to do with children? You dont put kids in the boot!

Not quite ready to change the E60 yet and as we've not got a pupster we might as well make our travelling lives easier.

The reference to buying an estate because he'd not got (what I thought he meant) kids sounded odd, but then it's not the only thing that's odd in this thread...

I couldn't work out how to edit my post and also multi-quote so apologies for that.

Anyway.

They do but they're annoying and make the car potentially easier to break in to.

Do like. What are these like to drive? Obvious bonus points for having a flat 6.

They're a good car to drive. The AWD stops you from ending up in a hedge but the engine in the 3.0R never wants you to do that anyway. It's for devouring miles in a pleasant, non-threatening way and it does this rather brilliantly. Tons of room, standard terrible Japanese interior, but remarkably well made.

The 3.0R is not 'properly quick' and isn't designed to be so. The engine is certainly capable and you won't struggle to overtake but they are definitely more laid back than the GTB variant which is happier to be a bit of a loon. Depending on year and model (and country variant thereof) the GTB shaves some time off that 0-60 number (which is hilariously redundant anyway but hey ho) but is still hampered by the AWD taking a number of horses off the 280bhp they produce.

I'd strongly recommend the GTB if you want a fast, spacious, capable wagon that you can have some fun with on the bends and then drive sedately to the supermarket.

I'd recommend the 3.0R if you want a spacious, capable wagon that drives nicely, is pretty comfortable and laps up motorway miles like they're going out of fashion.
