When will we see a GPU downclock with 2 Screens?

Title pretty much

everyone knows running 2 screens on 1 card requires the card to run @ max clocks. even at 2D

i remember a conference saying its a H/W limitation. question is when we we see such a card or is it just to expensive to overcome?

I would like to see 3 Stage Setup

1. 2D clocks 200mhz & 500mhz (GPU/Memory)
2. 2 Screen 400mhz & 800Mhz (weather the increase is required)
3. 3D Clocks

your thoughts!:D

The memory runs at maximum speed on 2 screens (not duplicate mode), but as has been said the core will run at 500mhz on 2 screens (again not duplicate mode, which will keep 2d clocks)

I guess when the gpu is so efficient that the difference in power consumption between the two modes is negligible enough that it doesn't warrant a lower clock for 2d. I have no idea when that will be lol.

My 5850 doesnt do this. I havent kept up with the current crop in terms of multi-screen clock speeds and whatnot - do they all clock up to full speed now?

edit: clearly not :p

Same with mine. Core downclocks but memory doesn't - same thing happened with my 5870 before the current card.
