unistall drivers before installing new gfx card ?

If i was upgrading my 6870 to another ATi card would I still need to run driver sweeper and clear out all the drivers. I thought that as they are the same type of card and I am alrady running the latest drivers it should be a simply case of swapping out the cards........... or I am wrong on this assumption ?

In this case I am thinking of getting a 7950 or a 7970

just unistall the gfx card drivers from the control pannel put the new card in and install the newest ones from amd site

what if I am already running the latest drivers ? Do I still need to do the unistall part or is it pointless as I am putting another AMD card straight back in ?

just plug in your new card install the 7k series drivers and thats it,the old drivers wont affect your new card

ive done this with a 5770/7850 and swap the cards out regularly
