Just in case anyone is not familiar with the case she has gone to the news papers and been on TV twice saying she wont leave the UK because benefits are too good. She has also caused further rage as going on record saying she believes that many jobs are beneath her. Here is the story from the Sun.

Anyway I don't really want to debate the rights and wrongs of the case but I started to get suspicious today when she got a second prime time slot on the This Morning programme. She knew she had infuriated the public yesterday and came on again today to face a further grilling. Why? A little digging around it seems she is an actress, yet she never mentioned this in any interviews despite giving a very full resume during the interview.

Is this just a coincidence or are we being fed propaganda?

I see further down the page there are two more examples covered in the Sun.

I would do the same if i was Lithuanian looking for a better life.

Sometimes you just need to realise reality, but to answer your question, I didn't even know that there was an issue surrounding this woman until you posted.

There's some more info here on the whole thing being misrepresented. Whether she's in on the article for her own ends I couldn't say though.

Interesting article! Its rags like The Sun that will be the death of the newspaper, given the level of distrust.

Amazing.

I had heard very little about the original story, frankly I tend to ignore these type of stories but the article you linked is very interesting.

So what could be the Sun's agenda, apart from selling papers?

Quite a few z-list or aspiring 'actors/entertainers' appear on This Morning as 'guests'.

Both Gareth Gates & Will Young, coincidentally appeared on This Morning together, well before they appeared on pop idol.

I love that it's misrepresentation of income since it includes housing benefit & council tax payments made on her behalf.

The money never touches her account, therefore she's obviously not getting a free place to stay eh? Just need to find some **** to pay my mortgage so I can be in the same boat & deserve liberal sympathy from a ridiculous website.

Managed to read a far as "She has milked soft-touch Britain" before closing the tab.

I've received text messages with a higher level of journalistic quality.

What always grinds my gears is that even if these examples they find of people are accurate it's not how you assess the quality of a welfare system that affects millions of people. You look at statistics on the performance of the thing as a whole and how it's working for particular demographics. Not hunt for individual cases that may or may not be abusing said system.

All newspapers are lying *******s. Whilst they may have elements of truth in all stories, they always exaggerate. It's the only way they can sell papers. It's just a sad fact of life that there are gullible sheep out there who will follow anything. Whichever way you look at this particular story, it's nothing short of bullying. Yet these sons of ******* are allowed to continue.

It's also very xenophobic.

To whip up public support for benefit cuts.

Which has pretty much been the aim of certain tabloid newspapers for some time - this is why the average sun reader is woefully disconnected from the reality on the actual facts around the benefit system.

Anyone who buys and reads The Sun is an idiot.
Fixed.

Sun reporting is like this old pic.

But replace girl with either person on benefits or immigrant.

It's not propaganda as such... it's entertainment masquerading as news. Same thing as all those reality TV shows. The goal is simply to make money not propagandize.
