the most chocking thing in that video is the fact she has a 65 inch tv, seriously? the average family most likely has a 42-46 inch tv, either she has rich children or a very good pension plan

It's only a few thousand pounds. What will you have blown all your money on when you've reached 84?

Pay off mortgage by 30, and then have investments and a great pension. I certainly hope I could comfortably afford something like that on my own when I'm 84, unless I've seriously screwed up my life somewhere.

Pay off mortgage by 30? Either you live in a shoe box or live in cloud cuckoo land!

lol

how many 84 year olds do you know? seriously this is most likely to be the only one in the world (living on her own) with her own personal 65 inch tv, that is a top of the range screen entering the £3K price bracket.

take a look at a average member of the public, they have zero investments apart from the house they live in (even then most of them do not even own that). most won't of paid of their mortgage by their 40th never mind their 30th. most dont even have a pension plan, the reason why the government are bringing in new regulations that it is now law for a company to offer one by 2014, also why they keep increasing the working age is because so many people rely on state pensions rather than private ones and the government is struggling to keep up.

in fact how many people do you even know who have a 65 inch tv? our main one is 51 inch top of the range sammy plasma. the biggest i have seen at family/friends homes is 60 inch.

My 74 year old Dad loves playing WoW - I actually think he plays it a bit too much but he wouldn't know what to do without it now.

I live in a 3 bed semi (purchased 3 years ago, and have just turned 26 with ~35% left on the mortgage), and will have paid it off by 30. I guess I must overestimate the average home owner.

Please tell me you're aware of how unusual this is? Most people now don't even own a house at 26 in the UK.
back OT, I saw this on the news and thought I would like to be gaming like a boss at this age - fair play to her.

I am 26 and own a 3 bed detached house. (Ironically for 3 years too) Will be mortgage free by my early 40's.

My grandfather used to play with me all the time when I was a kid till his eye sight went in the late 90's. He was in his 80's playing F-Zero X with me .

I wonder what games they include in the "It is predicted that by the end of this year, female gamers will outnumber men for the first time" statistics :/

I think it's great that older people play, and I hope I will when I'm that old :D

The statistic that there will be more female gamers than male must be down to Facebook games

The average annual earnings of full-time workers in the UK rose by 1.4% to £26,500 in the year to April 2012.

that only takes into account full-time workers, not those who do not have jobs, or can only get part time or contract work. therefore the average salary is a lot lower, i would guess at £15K a year.
