Top 10 worst console ports of all time.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent

Terrible performance, incredibly buggy (there was one level where you had to walk a certain section backwards to avoid looking in a particular direction and crashing the game) and dumbed down.

Oh yes, this game has some cracking bugs! Incredibly frustrating game to play.

Yep SC:DA is mega buggy, had to restart one mission where you abseil down a building in a couple of places. Also has an idiotic control system whereby if you are sneaking at minimum speed the safe dials don't work - not ideal on a mission where you need to sneak up to crack a safe.....

I'd add NFS:The Run, even if you get past the fact it has QTEs in a racing game (W.T.F?!?) it puts hints using XB360 buttons when I'm playing on a keyboard so had to use trial and error to work out what buttons to press.

Assassin's Creed Director's Cut is unbelievably bad in one aspect, it takes 11 (ELEVEN!!!) key presses to quit the game with all sorts of nonsense thrown in (loading sections, logging in to profile... how incredibly retarded do you have to be to design a UI that can't be quit unless you log in first?). The fact it never got patched either is quite frankly ridiculous.

To be honest, for all the talk about "shocking ports" there are only a couple of things that really annoy me:
-Unremovable framerate caps
-Multi-function keys e.g. sprint/cover, use/reload etc
-Non-dynamic key hints (worst of all hardcoded to pad buttons)

As mentioned above (in relation to Deus Ex:IW) often games may be influenced by consoles in terms of their design but that doesn't make them a bad port per se.

Adding all of your recent posts together Omaeka, it is clear that your copy of Skyrim has issues. Have you tried downloading it again?

Oh and it is between FFVII and Dark Souls for me

It's always been like it, it's honestly alright it's just annoying that there is a stutter that will not go away, and is still there on a new gpu and cpu, I'm pretty sure it's just the HDD micro freezing due to loading which is pretty draconian but I'll get an SSD one day. ;)

Moving the camera isn't at all very smooth though, not even on pad so I know it isn't my mouse, do you know a fix for that? Acceleration is off, did you ever play Dark Souls with a mouse? It's kinda like that but nowhere near as bad, just kinda off putting. It only happens in the first person too. I've gone to the ends of the earth trying to get Skyrim running as flawless as people claim they have theirs but never succeeded. The CPU and GPU upgrades that cost me quite a bomb were actually done with Skyrim being about 20% the reasoning, so the fact it still plays up is upsetting, it's a really good game when you mod it well, pretty too.

Never had any problems with Assassin's Creed as a port, except the DRM freezing the game after every kill when upload statistics to Uplay, but that was easily fixed with some port forwarding. Is the only issue with it trying to exit the game? I always ALT+F4 or ALT+Tab+Close games so I wouldn't notice, hope that isn't a bad habit that may bite me on the cheek one day. :o

Halo was pretty bad considering it was supposed to be a PC game originally. Performance very shoddy considering how average it looked.

DarkSiders - Lazy Port, poor PC features
Prototype 2 - Same as above
Dark Souls - Extremely poor, lazy, sloppy port. Was done as a quick cash grab. I don't care how good the game is, it's a **** port.
Crysis 2 - Completely gimped what could have been a great game, took a giant step backwards from Crysis 1.
GTA IV - Ran like ****
Saints Row 2 - Just, yeah.

I was tempted to put BF3 in there, but unsure on that, the PC features are there, but the core mechanics of the game clearly have consoles in mind.

GTA 4 is up there for sure, but I don't think it's as bad as Star Wars: Force unleashed 1+2 - I enjoyed them on the console as a button masher...unplayable on the PC though

Mw3

The exe at least on my retail version said mw2.exe. That is some shoddy work. Huge reuse of textures too.

Skyrim was miles better than Oblivion as a port...

Assassins creed was a poor console port though.

Oblivion wasn't a port, and generally it seems no one in this thread actually understands what "console port" actually means.

Console "ports" very rarely happen, what people are actually talking about is lazy PC development, and it seems that everyone now sees bugs in games and instantly screams "console port" as the reasoning behind it.

Dark Souls - This stands out from the others for me mainly due to the totally inept control method. Bought it in the steam sale and have barely been able to play it, despite the community fix it just feels awfull to play and this is a shame as from what i have seen of the game in various reviews and videos it looked like a really good game let down by lazy developers. I know we had to petition to get the game ported to pc but the quality of the port is, imo, totally unacceptable.

Crysis 2 is terrible.

Nothing on Crysis 1

Also SOF3. Dont even know if this was ever on console but its shameful to have the Soldier of fortune name. 1 and 2 were excellent

Get a 360 controller for your PC, then get the frame rate and resolution mods and you'll love it.

The game is better on PC simply due to the fact it will run above 24fps the fact they made a game which needs extremely good timing then made it lag like hell is stupid. However I won't argue the port was lazy and terrible. Worse thing about it was how quick and "easily" the community seemed to manage fixing it.

Splinter Cell Double Agent for me, it's the only Splinter cell game I've not played to completion and one of the very few games of any type that I decided was unplayable and so just gave up on, aswell as various in game bugs the save and menu system were a complete mess also.

I can't remember any other specifics as it's a good while ago that I tried to play it. I always enjoyed the SC series and retried several times to play DA but I never got very far due to the bugginess, discraceful work from Ubisoft IMO which was compounded by their lack of effort to patch or improve the port in anyway. They must have hated PC gamers at that time, I can't think of any other reason why they would palm us off with such shoddy work.
