Whats the best at the moment in the way of led tvs?

Dont really want to spend more than £1000

I have 3 sets in mind

LG 47LM670T - £869
Samsung UE46ES7000 - £1079
PANASONIC VIERA TXL47ET5B - £800

Leaning towards the samsung but the other 2 are also a lot of tv for the money.

Any opinions? to help me out or any others i should be looking at? oh and no plasmas.

Thanks

The Samsung PQ is pretty stunning tbh, but doesn't have as good viewing angles as the others due to their IPS panels, but it does have better black levels due ti IPS letting more light leak through.

They all get quite good write ups, and it i was buying now at that price id consider the sammy due to the fact you'll be able to upgrade it soon to 2013 specs with the evolution kit

If it was just between the panny and LG i would buy the LG, also had an email today from pana to say they now have no more 47et5's left so supply is just left to stock held.

The LG is a lot of TV for the money, but it really comes down to what you want from a TV.

As far as 3D and Smart TV functionality the LG is the best value. However, the 2D picture is a bit hit and miss for a lot of people. The AVforums is probably the best place to research this aspect further. I can't comment on the LG's issues, as I have only seen them in Currys, but I did notice one of two things that put me off, but that's me.

The Panasonic I believe is a similar panel to the LG (IPS) so you can expect some similar issues, such as slightly weak blacks depending on lighting environment and clouding - but all TVs have this to some degree. Like the LG it also has passive 3D, which in my view is superior to active 3D in terms of comfort for most people's eyes. The only thing that Panasonic lacks compared to the LG is the Smart TV functionality, as it is not as developed as the LG.

The Samsung will pretty much have the best 2D picture of the 3, as it uses a PVA panel which is better at producing deep blacks. It also has a better technology at handling fast motion, and if you want to turn on all the features, can achieve 1080 lines of resolution in motion where most LED/TVs can only get 300! The other great thing, is the Smart TV side of the Samsung is just as accomplished as the LG. The only thing it comes down to is preference to the interface.

Overall, it really depends on what you looking for and how much you are willing to spend to get the features you want.

Have you tried active or passive 3D before? This can be a deal breaker for some people.

I am not sure about the Panasonic, but the LG is actually only a 60Hz panel according to the AVforums and several reviews. LG advertise it as 400Hz with motion enhancements enabled, and claim with them off it is a 100Hz panel. However some truth was unearthed about this, as some people were reporting that the screen was displaying only 60Hz not 100. As it turned out like the advertised 400Hz, LG needed some trickery to even be 100Hz too. The Samsung ES7000 on the other hand is a true 200Hz panel with the motion enhancements turned off. So on motion handling alone the Samsung is automatically superior.

As for Sound, I believe once again the reviews favour the Samsung slightly.

You need to do some homework, as the info is out there. Also it helps you to get an idea on the pros and cons of each screen, and not just second hand info from people like myself, where it can seem to come across biased.:)

I've had the TXL47ET5B for 2 months and I'm very happy with it. I can't really compare it to anything as I don't own the other sets, or anything remotely close, but I'll give it a shot!

I think of the 3 you've listed the panny is the least visually appealing. The other sets look a lot nicer physically (although I think the stand on the LG looks cheap).

I ruled out the LG based on the large number of negative comments on AVForums (although what TV doesn't get negative comments on there).

I much prefer the passive 3D over the active, so that's another reason I went for the panny. I've watched several 3D titles now and I've been very impressed.

The smart features on the pany are pretty poor imo. It's slow and clunky, but I knew this when I bought it. It doesn't bother me as I very rarely use it and when I need to I use my Sony blu ray player which has a much sleeker UI.

Downsides on the panny is that the black levels aren't particularly black. However, when reading reviews it all seemed much of muchness with these sets. The alternative was plasma but I don't like the large power consumption and my TV is in a very light room which suits LED more so than plasma.

I have the 660 and I love it. Its the same as the 670, just the bottom tray is silver, while black in the 660.

Picture quality is really good, esp HD and 3D. Really recommend it.
