Nice Screenies.

Love this game. Best thing I've played since Red Dead Redemption for all out mindless fun and enjoyment.

Skinning dead animals is "disgusting" though but for some reason............ well...

FarCry 3 Crashes after startup!

Hi there i am posting on behalf of a friend who is having some problem s when trying to start far cry 3. The game would work fine This morning but now when he starts it up all he gets is the response of the game closing/ending its own process, I really have no idea what is causing this.....

Mine crashes when I play in 3D Vision with EVGA Precision running.

Disable EVGA precision and runs fine. (Its a known issue)

If you have this or MSI Afterburner running try disabling them.

Thanks dude :D

I really like how they have hostile wild animals in this game. Their AI behaviour is better than Skyrims wildlife.

The one huge weakpoint in this game (and all the others) is the TINY dialogue database. NPCs are heard saying the same thing over and over just minutes apart.

Surely they can script hundreds and hundreds of lines so you only hear the same thing twice 2 to 3 hours apart?

Yeah i think it has the best wildlife I've seen in a game so far. Comodo dragons have sneaked up on me a few times and i didn't think the cassowaries were so dangerous until i got too close.

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this game up until the last 3-4 missions which were a real let down. Ending was poor too - not many games that I have finished recently have really got the ending done properly.

Have to say I didn't enjoy the game at all starting off, just felt a bit overwhelmed when it came to how many things you can do, all the crafting etc... but you soon get the hang of that and the game itself is a joy to play.

It's great because if you are focused on getting missions completed you can - or if you fancy liberating the outposts you can do that or you can just do some old school exploring.

Game ran fine at 1080p even with my 7850 with the frame rates hardly going under 50 and most of the time in the 60 and 70s. I would heartily recommend trying out the depth of field trick... that gave me a tonne of performance back AND made the game look even better.

I would give the game a 8.5/10.

It definetly adds more fun to the game. Its the stupid dogs I hate the most. They come at you in packs. At close range every gun is useless...except shotgun which lets you whack 2 or 3 of them at once.

Yea...which highlights another huge fail in the game. Even a direct shot to the head with assault rifle doesnt drop some of the animals. I took a shot @ a tiger with a big sniper rifle at close range and it became obvious that the game only killed them after it registered 2 or more shots.

Fortunately some good mods out there that fix this nonsense!

If he has a 4890 he can't use DX11 'cause it only supports DX10.1.

I find that having Mumble running causes it to crash on the splash screen, so best bet is to disable programs running other than it and Uplay one by one until it works. Monitoring and adjustment programs are often problematic, as are any programs using Windows audio stack - like Mumble/Teamspeak/music players.

Its ok, played it for a bit but find it a bit boring? Maybe just me but feels a bit of a dull game and just a case of go here, do this, go here, do this etc

Retake the island

I've just finished the game & tried the enemy retake the outposts Mod & it's brilliant. :D:p
Just simply cut & paste one line of the hex array with another using HxD hex editor & all the outposts become repopulated with pirates on both Islands, the towers still have to be climbed to clear the map however but all the safe houses remain available to you along with all your weapons & skills.
Only problem I had was my PC refused permission to alter the hex array even though I am admin, so I found I had access to most files but not all so easily fixed.

I agree, however it is let down by the game only loading things like animals/people within about 50ft of you at any given time, I've had times where I'm trying to kill an animal only to have it de-spawn because it wanders out of the "spawn zone"

Also some animals are WAY too common. Boars and stuff sure, however coming across a tiger every 10 steps is a little absurd.

i havent played the game, but from what i've heard here it sounds quite stupid, you dont get Apex preditors living together on an island..... tigers, bears, komodo dragons, wild dogs etc, this put me off buying the game months ago

just like Fallout 3, in fact; all RPGs, i'm beginning to wonder if linear or semi linear isn't the best

Yeah. I know what you mean but it's not exactly a deal breaker is it?

The game's not 100% perfect but hey what game is these days?

As a console port it's not too bad. Takes a couple of hours to get past the over saturated graphics and the really annoying voices in the first village area but once you're involved it's not too bad a game. Not too much button mashing to contend with on the QT events either. (well at least so far)

It's not Skyrim with guns though. Not by a long chalk.

If you don't take it too seriously. It's just a bit of fun... really

Well most of them inc Tigers, Bears, Komodo dragons, are to be found in Indonesia & wild dogs are found just about everywhere, the Leopards bred after escaping captivity on a pirate ship. :p

You're nitpicking at things, it's a game, they can put whatever they want into it.
