Not sure how to explain this well, so I took a picture:

The grey part ontop that lights up. I'm unsure what it is or what use it is. It stops me using an additional pci e device in my crossfire setup. I was hoping you could answer some questions about it for me:
What is it / Is it any use?
Can I easily remove it if its only cosmetic?
What would removing it do to my warranty?

Thanks

Tried to ask this on MSI's forums but they wouldn't let me post my pic :(

Just for info the bit your refering to is the gpu reactor and if you are overclocking the card then this item is still needed to smooth power delivery.

Here is the info from Ocuk page...

GPU Reactor
- An add-on device on the back of R7970 Lightning (Behind GPU) for the overclocking stability
- Provide 88% higher power capacity and eliminate power noise (ripple)

I have the same card and thought I would post the info for you.

It only takes real effect at high voltage, I compared clocks with it removed and fitted, fitted got me another 10mhz or so.

It all helps :)

Msi over sold the reactor thing imo, it's only a beneficial thing for those going subzero. The 10mhz I gained was pretty irrelevant given I was already well north of 1300mhz :D
