I5 3570k processor
Asus p8h61 mle motherboard
8gb ddr3 memory
Tend sonic case
750 watt psu
Evga gtx 560sc graphics card 500gb hdd
Windows 8 pro

Will the above allow me to play the latest games?

What budget are we talking here?

You can play new games but only medium - high settings. The 560 is pretty much identical to a 460. The 560TI is better.

What 750W PSU are we talking? 400W is enough provided its a good brand.

Oh and a H61 motherboard limits Ivybridge CPU's a lot. Also supports no overclocking.

Yes it will play the latest games. However, I'd change the motherboard for a Z77 chipset. Also, what make and model is that PSU? Finally, you could possibly get something better than a GTX560 if your budget allows.
I assume that your buying pre-built and if so, what is your budget?

For £450 I'm afraid your not really gonna get an i5, unless you want to sacrifice performance elsewhere (which is silly imo). Bacon's build is good, and yes it will play games like BF3 and FarCry3 on High settings.

Will play those games decently, although the 1GB VRAM will struggle and so will the CPU at those ultra settings and with 64 man matches.

However the PSU, mobo and GPU arent great in that PC you posted. The mobo doesnt even have USB 3 by the looks of it!

The only good thing about that PC you posted is the CPU. Apart from that the rest if quite...

I've asked about the type of ram and psu but I gauge from you guys that its poor so I will continue to look on the web for a second hand machine or get some more money

I've seen loads on eBay for under £500 but ill just have to be wary

Kind regards

Mick

Getting more money would be the best idea ;)

I personally don't trust any second hand goods unless the person has a good reputation or the company is one I trust like overclockers.

If you want we can spec you a £600 build with OS?

An i5 processor would be better, but you can't have everything for that budget.

The rig in the original post would struggle with the latest games on high settings because of the GPU. Assuming you don't just want to play the latest games, but also games which come out over the next couple of years - you need to spend more on the GPU.

If you're not confident to build yourself, prebuilt rigs from OCUK are reasonably priced (and actually contain decent components). e.g. if you start with this rig http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-247-OE&groupid=43&catid=2385&subcat=1270 and add a 7850 GPU plus an operating system - it comes out at £718.96 inc VAT.

Bearing in mind there's build cost in that. You could probably build something comparable yourself for about £600. If you can get the budget to that level the guys here will be able to get a good spec together for BF3 and FarCry 3.
